Is Skyrim going to be buggy?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 3:55 am

What's the game engine like? Will it be polished?

Because Fallout New Vegas was unbearable to play, lost over 30 hours of progress for a £40 game.

It will be buggy. Edit: By that I mean somewhere in this game there will be a bug it won't not have some random glitch that they missed at some place. I don't allow this to affect me though because Skyrim will be a great game.

I never found a single bug in my 150 hours of New Vegas. With buggy eyes, comes buggy games, i dont know. But if you nitpick, it sure as hell will seem less perfect.

I'd imagine it's somewhere around Fo3/Oblivion levels. Bethesda is pretty good at finding bugs, but a game of this scope is really hard to make bug free.

I never encountered any game breaking bugs in Oblivion (before mods, that its) just some funny stuff.

I did, but not too many, and certainly nothing game breaking. Skyrim will have bugs, because no game is perfect.

Certainly better then New Vegas but probably more in line with Oblivion and Fallout 3. It might be a small improvement from there but it's still going to have Bugs, I mean this is Bethesda Game Studios, they are the bug king.

Most likely. Though at the same time, they'll be fixed quickly.

Will it be buggy? Yes! It's a Beth game! :D

Personally, the only "major" problem I had with FO:NV was the first-week "whoops, Steam cloud-syncing destroys your save files" thing. Which was pretty easily fixed (turn off Steam community/go offline) until they ran a bugfix for it.

Other little things, like rubberbanding corpses, CTD's, the crafting menu being a bit sticky.... meh. Just little annoyances (or funnies), not "game breaking".

I think this game will be 100% playable. Now, that said, I think it will have its share of bugs. Every video game does, and one of this scope most certainly will.

As a matter of fact, every software program ever written has bugs, as they are created by humans. (if you can't tell, I'm a programmer) Game development is a much larger and much more complex area, so the bugs are definitely more prominent there.

All that in consideration, I think this game will be extremely playable just due to the pedigree. You should be fine.

Most games are a bit buggy when they are released, we get a first day patch witch should make it much better. Bugs never really bother me, I don't know. to me people seem very spoiled now. I see people complaining about things that I never even notice. I'v never come across a bug in a game that made it unbearable. Or even really annoyed me. The only ones I can think of that I don't like are when you get stuck in something. But that's usually the players fault for trying to tight rope a boundary, lmao.

That's just me though.

Yeah, your game freezing every time you try to leave a room or save files becoming corrupted for no reason are just people nitpicking.

With a game of this magnitude there will be bugs. There is no way for them to catch every single little bug that might occur before they release the game. That is if you want it released sometime in the next 5 years. The good news is that Bethesda is usually really good with patches and such that fix bugs. That being said, dont expect to find gamebreaking bugs either.

I did,I got stuck under some stairs and I couldn't jump or move out of.

I couldn't fast travel or wait either because apparently my guy was stuck in the "jumping animation" and the game treated it as me jumping and wouldnt let me do anything.

So I had to load a save file from 5 hours back.

Ugh.

I never had any of these, and i do belive loads of others can say the same. It makes me question the hardware tbh.

Is it going to be buggy because it's a Beth game? No, it's going to be buggy because it's an open-world, free roam game.

Well, FNV was developed by Obsidian not Bethesda. Will skyrim have bugs? Most likely because no game is perfect and there will always be bugs. Will it have many bugs? Maybe. It's on a new engine so the bugs from past games will be gone but it being on a new engine creates potential new bugs. Patches will be out so don't worry to much about it.

There will always be bugs in games, that's just how it is. How many? Well, you never know. Hopefully most of them will be fixed though!

Excuse me, Bethesda did NOT make Fallout New Vegas, why do people make this mistake?
No, It will not. No TES game will ever be as buggy as NV, obviously it will be buggy, not as much as NV, but buggy.

What do you expect from a giant open world game packed to the brim with content?

Sten, on release? Because there were bugs EVERYWHERE. Everything was glitching and crashing, even when I got a new copy.
