Skyrim's engine is based on Fallout 3's engine. Fallout 3's engine was based on Oblivion's.

And I remember people saying Fallout was "Oblivion with guns"

ok i have to admit.......i only played fallout 3 but,i seen enough footage of oblivion walkthorughs and watched my friends play it! and mods quiz me too i will get 100%

The Elder Scrolls isn't a different series all of a sudden, their trying to make Skyrim the best it can be by importing ideas from Bethesda's best sellers, Fallout and the other Elder Scrolls games. You should be happy about this, shows just how much Bethesda want's this game to be the best it can be.

they copy so many things from it!,why can't the elder scrolls be the elder scrolls,I think fallout influenced tes too much,but that is my opinion what is yours?

in what ways did fallout (a game developed by the people who have made all of the TES games) influence Skyrim too much?

Can't tell if trolling, or what.. I'm sure Skyrim will not seem like fallout at all.. it will seem like TES..

I don't agree, I'm sure as Todd and crew, gain more experience through every game they release, technical changes will grow.

When I look at Skyrim videos, I don't see another Fallout, but a new cold harsh land in the spirit of Elder Scrolls series, to explore and enjoy, for far far longer than Fallout.

I'm personally stoked. Fallout 3 was a period of learning where Bethesda could try out new things and not screw up an Elder Scrolls game. This means we are going to get a number more improvements as opposed to a universe where FO3 never existed.

Anyway, so what if it's influenced by Fallout? Fallout was fun as hell, and fallout was influenced by Oblivion, which was influenced by Morrowind, which was influenced by Daggerfall, which was influenced by Arena.

Also Peter Hines just tweeted that they barely changed the Fallout: New Vegas engine. They even took all the art assets and raised the brightness a bunch to make it look wintery.
