[REL] Skyrim Monster Mod Lore-Friendlier Replacer

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 2:04 am

The next update to the original not-so-strict Lore-Friendly version will be in the next couple of days, if you're happy to wait.
If you want to do it yourself, you'll need to have a basic understanding of the Creation Kit - you can just delete him from the esp (and associated lists), or if you want to adjust where he spawns, you'll need to find where he appears and delete him from those lists, and add him to a list that also includes Spriggans.

As I mentioned, the Giant Spriggan isn't in the new Purist Lore-Friendly version at all.

Well to be honest I'm looking for a version like the original but with proper placements of the monsters...I often see drakes in the wild which should be fitting for a cave....

Ah, well "proper placement" can be quite subjective, and my primary focus is making the mod more lore-friendly - I only made my initial version for personal use and decided to upload as many others were asking for the same thing - and things have kind of spiralled from there! Personally I have no real problems with drakes in the wild - why should they be in a cave?

Because they can have their nests there.. I remember when I countered drakes in dragon age and nowhere else in the wild.

Ah, but this isn't the Dragon Age world - it's the Elder Scrolls world.

Drakes aren't even strictly lore-appropriate - but my looser interpretation (in the Lore-Friendlier file) currently renames them as Dragonlings (which were in Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall) - basically they are a type of fire-breathing lizard unrelated to Dragons.

I installed this using NMM and let this mod overwrite the LIST file from the main Monster Mod. Yet I still saw a triceratops. Any reason for this??

Are you also using any of Ironman's "Additions" files for SkyMoMod? They could be reintroducing creatures depending on load order and how they work.

I double-checked the file in the CK, and Triceratops is marked as deleted with 0 users...so it shouldn't be showing up. Could it be that NMM isn't replacing the file properly?

Would you mind eliminating this possibilty, by manually replacing the file in your Data directory and seeing if the same thing happens and reporting back? Thanks!

Skyrim Monster Mod Lore-Friendly main replacers now updated to be compatible with v7 of Skyrim Monster Mod.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16411

Standard Lore-Friendly, and Purist Lore-Friendly both now compatible with v7.
Optional files not yet compatible - if using any of the optionals, please either use v6 of SkyMoMod or wait until I'm able to update the optional files.

Standard version now includes the Bullvore renamed as Ogrim (from Morrowind) with an optional retexture to make him look more like an Ogrim - http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/16411-1-1337778246.jpg

This is great, I think I might try this out finally. BTW I wouldn't trust the ESwiki on a damn thing. Probably some random teen kid made up that thing about Goblins. They even have a picture of Necrom by TR listed as an example of Yokudan architecture. It is doubtful that the goblins are extinct sine Bethesda themselves designed them for Skyrim but left them out.

Yeah, I'm taking anything on the Wiki with a pinch of salt.

Anyways, all my files have now been updated to be compatible with v7.

I've added a range of additional files to give more choice as to which creatures from SkyMoMod remain in your game -

Files now available are:

1) LORE FRIENDLY STANDARD - removes some creatures that are most obviously against lore, renames some that look like creatures from previous Elder Scrolls games, and renames others that may have no strict precedence in lore but seem as though they would fit into a Skyrim or Elder Scrolls world. Other creatures have loot/factions/sizes amended to suit lore.

2) LORE FRIENDLY PURIST - a much stricter version that removes all those creatures that have no precedence in lore, and renames/adjusts some others.

The other files are not lore-friendly unless specified, just give options for removing creatures:

3) Removes Triceratops only
4) Removes Triceratops and Young Mammoth only
5) Removes Triceratops and Therium only
6) Removes Triceratops, Therium and Young Mammoth only
7) Removes all dinosaurs (Triceratops, Therium and Raptor) only
8) Removes all horror creatures from SkyMoMod
9) Removes Witcher creatures, Pseudogiant from STALKER, dinosaurs, and Young Mammoth
10) Removes new Dragons from SkyMoMod for better Deadly Dragons compatibility, but all other creatures remain.
11) Removes new Dragons, dinosaurs and Young Mammoth for better Deadly Dragons compatibility, but all other creatures remain.
12) Standard Lore friendly version with SkyMoMod new dragons removed for better Deadly Dragons compatibility.
13) Purist Lore friendly version with SkyMoMod new dragons removed for better Deadly Dragons compatibility.
