Sharp weapons [damage bonus] u melee weapon lovers be sure to sharpen yo weapons in town b4 u head out!
Or not but we'll get to do [more damage] than u for doing so :P

You're wrong about sleeping. It's not an experience bonus, it's a minor stat boost that eventually wears off. You get a higher bonus for sleeping in a bed you own/rent. You get an even higher bonus for sleeping with your spouse (or with a prosttute, if rumors are to be believed, but don't tell your spouse that).

I understand, you can role play and sleep/cook and sharpen your weapon and the game will reward you with bonuses, like:

After sleeping in a bed, your rate of skill advancement increases a bit for a while.

Cooked food are more effective than the uncooked versions, in general.

Sharpened weapons have more damage potential.

Sleeping bonus has been confirmed ages ago.

I'm not a roleplayer and I don't see these things as RP elements.

Sleeping ---> more xp gained
Sharpening ---> more dps
Eating---> well fed=bonus

The reason why this can be connected to RPing is pretty simple. As I RP I stop on long treks to eat, I sleep some hours almost every day and so forth. I would do this even if no bonuses were given for doing so, as it is what a real person would do. Like OP said, this isn't only for role-players but its a huge bonus for us who do as we now actually get something in return for doing the "everyday things". The fact that sharpening weapons, cooking and so forth is also included just enhanced the role-players wish to do these "everyday things".

and it also did something else!
And that's just 1 example for cooking and eating..

Do u have any idea how much fun im gonna have with that alone?????

And thats not combined wit everything else i mentioned...

Non roleplayers ppl who don't believe in sleeping and cooking and sharpen your weapons everyday b4 you head out are really getting the short in of the stick!

Way to go bethesda for rewarding us for something we role players have been doing all along..

There are definatly some more roleplaying elements in the mix. You can perform the same animations as NPCs, so you could also pretend that you're working on a farm and what not.

But I wouldn't say non-RPGamers are getting the short-end of the stick. The bonusses are trivial and a lot of aspect of the game are still designed for non-RPG (the majority of the market afterall). The quest-arrow for instance is something for non-RPG. In Morrowind you had to search through your own notes to figure out how to get to a location, in Oblivion/Skyrim you just follow some floating symbol on your screen.

I like how this game seems to have a good balance between both playstyles. But saying roleplayers get special treatment is a bit too much. If they actually cared for fleshing out the roleplay experience then they would have added much more elements. Like not being able to travel via map. And getting 'cold' when staying outdoors to long in a snowarea, forcing you to seek shelter. Or require eating and sleeping not just for bonusses but also to stay healthy and alive. They could have added this via hardcoe mode, and they did not so I wouldnt praise Bethesda for this (but I do praise them for so much else).

My character is a Nord/Imperial offspring whose family has an East Empire Trading Office in solitude. My character was send to Cyrodiil for study but upon hearing disturbing news of an attack on my family my character decides to return to Skyrim.

After getting caught on the border I will try to find my way to solitude.

Traveling by day, sleeping and eating in Inns by night.

My money and clothing were taken from me by the Imperials that captured me so I'll need to do some quests for the locals to pay for my trip as well.

Once I get to sollitude I'll figure out what the deal is with the East Empire Trading Company in Skyrim. I'll appoint certain NPCs as my nemesis and further fleshout my background story. I'll continue to roleplay until it starts to bore me.
