Skyrim is WAY too hard?

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 8:13 am

I play on the middle default setting forget what it's called. I find the game hard, getting killed by those darn saber cats and keep dieing and reloading till I get it. After the 10th time, I usually put it to the easiest setting and then continue till the combat is over, since now I am not having fun. The game is suppoe to be fun. So I am not sure how people level up and put what in their perks.

I just can't believe people are saying the game is too easy. Does this mean they never died? I find I have to drink lots of restore health potions or run away to cast a heal spell. Maybe I just svck at the game. Oh well still having a blast.

I'm glad someone else finds this game difficult. There are a whole lot of mobs that scare the hell out of me: Falmer; Chaurus, Snow Bear, Giants etc. etc. There are so many threads for how easy this game is, but there's plenty of challenge for me, I play on default and, yes, I completed Oblivion on Master.

lower the difficulty setting tbh :P
but yeah even on master difficulty as you level up you gain enough option and abilities to deal with combat progressively easier, ofc, as you explore the later contents, encounters also become harder as you start encountering bosses and more numerous groups of foes.

but yeah the game is hard, at least on master, very much so in early 1-20 levels.

I'm not an expert gamer but I've played a lot of TES games and Expert difficulty setting seems perfect for me. I enjoy a good challenge but I dont want it to be impossible

Good to see I'm not alone on this! and that others aren't struggling.
Least it shows we have different styles

Enchanting and Alteration are your friend if your playing on Master difficulty. Helps a lot and allows you to kick ass without taking a lot of unnessery perks like armor perks.

Having enchanted armor and a shield that lets you block like nearly 70+% more effectively is more effective than taking a bunch of shield perks for example and making your glass light armor like armor of a shining knight hero without taking any light armor perks and regenerate combined stamina much faster than some perk.

Feel like playing around with a great sword but your two-hand skill is low? Enchant the hell out of it and whatch yourself wreak havoc.

Enchanting and Alteration are a warrior's bests magic school friend. Although I will warn you that enchanting is a very hard skill to master, it takes total dedication and is extremely expensive.

Alteration, you don't need any perks for it. Seriously. Just raise up your magica a little bit if your not playing a High Elf like me, and then you can find yourself casting stone-flesh or ebony-flesh upon yourself to handle those tough situations. Basically giving yourself a temporary second set of first grade armor.

Skyrim is definitely a challenge early on. But keep grinding through and you'll become stronger, especially if you focus on combat and less on auxiliary skills.

If you're wondering why, it's because any skill will level you up. Enemies level up with you. If you don't keep your combat skills up to par, they'll fall behind and you'll get your butt handed to you in combat.

You are most likely doing something seriously wrong.
You′ll figure it out soon enough though, dont worry.

if your really getting your butt handed to you in combat and your totally desperate, grab a shield. Block, Block, Block like hell. Make them stagger, then whack them in the head. You raise up your blocking skill very quickly if you block power attacks. And blocking power atttacks makes your opponent stagger a long time, giving you a ton of time to whack them in the head with your sword.

Misplaced elitism. :) Skyrim isn't easier than Oblivion, and it's certainly not easier than Morrowind. Arena and Daggerfall were different, but Morrowind was extremely easy, and Oblivion without mods had a static difficulty due to linear scaling. Skyrim handles that better than the two previous games, though there is plenty of room for improvement.

There is nothing really that's dumbed down about Skyrim. Unless you somehow felt that jumping around for hours and trying your best to avoid actually playing your character normally to get the desired multipliers to be difficult and challenging?

blocking power attack does reduce damage, but it will make YOU stagger. it is better to bash the enemy. also ive noticed many enemies, no most enemies dont stagger whenni merely block their attack. i had to bash them

Yeah, I found it tough on Adept until I was into the 30s. There were quite a few areas where I'd save the game every time I killed an enemy. I relied on stealth for the hardest parts, despite being a melee-focused character. If you don't have a high resistance against the type of damage your enemy is dealing, you'll get slaughtered in close quarters.
