I'd say they're probably equally complex, but TES is a lot more granular. In Dishonored, you can sneak, fight, use magic, etc. In TES, you can also do all those things, but they're broken down into different degrees of progress, which gives you more options for customization. On the flipside, no one system in TES is usually incredibly deep, whereas in Dishonored, equal consideration and time appears to have been given to everything (assuming they're following the Deus Ex model). Everything feels slightly compromised in Skyrim, but I can forgive it because it offers so much. Depth vs Breadth is a good way to put it. Well said.
Also, fast travel was present in the Arena and Daggerfall games as well. I think the importance of that is vastly overstated by Morrowind purists. It's literally the only major TES game that didn't have it.
All that said, I also personally prefer the LGS games. But I feel like TES has undeservedly become a punching bag based on hugely exaggerated flaws.
