SOPA 'shelved' until consensus is found

Because that minority pro-SOPA has really deep pockets.

My blades will run deeper...

That's legalese for you.

At the bottom of some school tax levy in fine print: "also we're gonna kill the internet."

Ugh, I hope not. That does sound like something they would try to pull though.

It's a stalling tactic used to wait for bad press and political rivals to go away/forget about it.
What a silly schemeing goverment

Yeah out of metal tin cans, lego and some copper wiring, though something was always missing then I dropped the caesium and WEYHEY PRESTO!

I think they'll still go through with it - though it is up right now and I can't remember if it was today or tomorrow - whenever - it goes down

Aww... I was looking forward to it, and then watch the big companies Congress got themselves killed from all these security exploits. We'd have a better world afterward.

The thing won't work, I don't see how the companies think it would work.

Sure you stopped the piracy, but at what cost? Everyone with a brain hating you to the point that you fear a bomb threat on your headquarters everyday?

Plus I doubt it would stop piracy anyway.
Secret mailing lists would be near impossible to track, so in the end, like so many other things the innocent people will get screwed over yet again.

I don't really think that's one of their concerns.

Its never anyones concern unless there is money involved.

Piracy would just increase if it did pass, I won't be changing my avatar just because it incorporates someone elses design :meh:

Looks like the blackout effort is still going strong. The Wikimedia Foundation is going through with blacking out the english Wikipedia worldwide, instead of the original plan that called for a total Foundation blackout just in the 'States.

Good good. It's not Google or Facebook, but it's the next best thing to get the message out to the masses. :P

Obama for is for free speech? Thats a new one. They'll probably pass it with some other bill in fine print and use the excuse that they are saving the children. Kind of like what they did with health care.

Less than 8 hours to go until the blackout.

Looks like Google will do something, too.

That's why you should stop procrastinating and do it now. There's your new deadline!

Alternatively you could learn another language and use its wikipedia, only the english one goes offline.

Y'know, there's probably a better way to protest than inconveniencing thousands of people.

Google's doesn't inconvenience anyone and Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization and the protest is in-line with the organization's goals and viewpoints

I mean people who aren't involved and just want to use the web site. Yeah, it's their site so they are free to do what they want with it, but I'm not entirely clear on the purpose of this.
