*spoiler* power armours require "fusion cores"?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 7:51 pm

So in a leak it was made fact that level 9 intelligence perk was "nuclear physicist" (or something like that name) which - amongst other abilities - makes "fusion cores" last 25% longer per rank

So i was wondering what these are tied to..? I mean at the present the only thing i could think that would apply for is power armour
What do you guys think?

The spoiler was actually to do with solid knowlage of a high-level perk and its bonuses.

Merely saying "fusion cores" isnt really spoiling anything; if you just read the title, youd know literally nothing more than what you did to begin with (bar knowing the name of one ingame thing)
I apologise..

Theyre still speculation; most aside from that we know of is power armour working as a vehicle; staying where you placed it indefinatley.
Its merely something that ties a system like that into being more than speculation.
The freakin' hype

Its been confirmed

Edit: In case someone thinks I am serious its a joke

The leaked info earlier that was talked about regarding power armour from the guy who currently is playing it said noting about powering the armour or requiring fuel/energy source.

Pretty much just said it was a get in/get out park it and go thing.

I'm still not convinced that this pertains to power armour, or all variants of it.

Edit:

Actually, thanks to Shagohad's thread listing the perk you're speaking about, I'm actually much more convinced now that those fusion cores are what will be used as ammunition for the weapons that do radiation damage.

I was thinking it meant some real good forethought if you wanted to use it effectively;
You equip a power armour load-out at an appropriate place, move it to a location and fit it with a weapon based on what you'll be facing, go to home base, let dogmeat rest for once while yoh get ammo and fusion cores then head back and kill freakin' everything
Or even to the point where you've got, say, 10 well equiped power armours dotted around the map at specific locations incade you ever need them.

In the spanish translation, he said they were treated as vehicles in the sence they were real slow, bulky, they stayed where you left them, ect.

He doesnt mention them atall; baring in mind this was a first impressions kinda thing.
This kinda implies that within your first day of playing (lets face it.. ATLEAST 12 hours of your day will sink into fallout 4 if you're playing it release) you get power armour..

I mean, yeah. It could be used for something else but ifso what?
Applying buffs to weapons and armour, something tied to settlements?

Edit: In hindsight, you're probably right ^_^ makes sence given the nature of the perk. Seems quite odd, though. Then again theres alot of changes to the game.

PA was already shown to have fusion core level indicator, it's pretty much a given that it runs on fusion cores based on the wording of that particular perk. Since energy weapon ammo would be either used or not, they wouldn't need to 'last longer'.

There has to be some ingame reason why you can't use the Power Armor all the time. Fusion Cores having a duration is a good way to accomplish it. Personally, I am more interested in if the radiation weapons is limited to the Fat Man or if we can have particle weapons (helium nuclei, electrons, neutrons), high-energy lasers (Gamma and X-ray), or even weirder weapons.

I'd hardly say confirmed. There's no purpose for limiting Power Armour that way, unless it's only used for the earliest set you get, as a PA teaser of sorts.

One could also assume that a radiation type weapon would run on some sort of fusion core, or power cell like that as well. It could go either way.

Again, according to the lore, fuel/energy is not an issue for the newer models of Power Armour. There's no purpose to restricting the player to only using it some of the time.

It's the games staple. Poster boy armour. Most iconic and recognizable piece of gear in the series. I think just not being able to carry it around in your inventory is "inconvenient" enough when it comes to wearing it, and I'm not convinced Beth would just restrict PA like that permanently all of a sudden.

If it turns out it's true, I still expect them to be very lenient with the restriction.

The purpose is that now it's vastly more powerful so it would be an overkill without any drawbacks.

MFCs are for those weapons already.

Power armour has always been powerful.

It simply being good isn't a reason to not let players use it freely as they've done before.

It was rather pitiful in FO3, in NV so so. And we have different game system from the older games so I assume Bethesda never intended to make it on par with FO1 & FO2 & FOT without an inherent cost for it.

Well, recent games and their designers seem to disagree, not me. XCOM EU didn't have an all-powerful, ultimate armor like the old games as well. They don't seem to put it such armor anymore. I might not agree with that but I can observe, thus the fusion core thing is pretty much certain at this stage.

Their goal this time around is to have power armour be the "fatman" of fallout 4 - getting an incrediably lethal weapon early-ish on in the game but it having a limit, ive hard thats what todd wanted to achieve but im STILL unsure how bethesda will impliment it

I saw it tied into T-45d.. I really hope they don't make it necessary for armor like T-51b where the cores last for a century.

Actualy i am just speculating here but lore wise if i rember correctly first powerarmor model did require a batery that alowed em only very limited usage on field, so it cud be just as someone else said already that the powerarmor we saw in released videos(which is clearly aviilable very early in the game is like that simply becuase it one of the first models and sorta serves as a teaser of whats to come later on in the game, and ofcourse it wud make sence to restric usage of PA in the early stages of the game so that wud be a nice lore apropriate way of doing it), and later on we get acces to later models which dont use bateries at all.

I agree with your first statement but..

Dude, xcom eu and ew his have an ULTIMATE armour - they were just different dependant on class. I mean. With ew, if you had 2 mechs and a the rest one of each class also genetically enhanced (which wasnt too hard if yknew when you could spam missions), you were set for pretty much any mission; the new one will have even more depth, ergo, even more to have to plan out with ludicrous forethought.
