I'm going to take a guess that he thinks Starfield is going to be a game set in the Elderscrolls universe but with a futuristic Scifi/steampunkish setting? Totally just a guess, as I didn't really follow all of that, lol

Isn't it obvious, people? It all makes sense now. Starfield IS Elder Scrolls 6!

Discussion  Or is that off limits?

You just read Michael Kirkbride's drunken autobio from his years at Bethesda. He and Kurt Kuhlmann pitched the world of Ur at Todd Howard. Ur basically became Redguard.

... But you know how projects begin, usually from the detritus of previous ideas. I'm supposing Kurt's adapted the idea of Ur over the years, into a usable, believable concept: Starfield. Nothing to do with Tamriel.

Certainly not. However, I do prefer it when people make a tiny bit of effort to be coherent when they start a discussion.

Well it's a Michael Kirkbride quote, he prides himself on writing weird stuff. That quote certainly reinforces the idea that MK hates (or at least hated) the beast races, though. Of course, there probably wasn't any reason to find the beast races interesting as the overall aesthetics, themes, tone and lore were far from established. He did write stuff about the Khajiit later on, and included them in stuff like C0DA, so he seems to have had a change in opinion since then (using his own ideas of course).

If Starfield is rooting from an earlier concept, it's probably that Star Trek RPG idea that Todd Howard had just before they started Fallout 3. He implied that you would have played as Captain Kirk voiced by William Shatner himself, which in turn probably rules out the idea that Starfield will have race/species selection like in TES (although I have a strong feeling that TES VI is being planned as having a protagonist of a predetermined race given that Redguard trademark that people think might be for TES VI). Of course, they could do whatever they want in the context of a new IP, too.

I doubt Bethesda Softworks is going to pay to license the Star Trek name for Bethesda Game Studios to develop a brand new Star Trek video game.

Starfield might just be Todd Howard's vision of a Mass Effect type video game, but developed in their style like The Elder Scrolls video games and Fallout video games.

The Redguard trademark from 2013 I don't think is related to The Elder Scrolls VI at all I think it was just to renew for The Elder Scrolls Adventures Redguard, which got released for sale in August of 2015 on gog.com.

Gods, I hope "Starfield" has nothing to do with Star Trek in any shape, form, or fashion. I'm not a fan of Star Trek.

I think a Gothic steam punk pirate game set in space would be pretty freaking awesome!

Something like Star Wars but not as high tech, more Gothic symbolism and weapons and tech on par with a game like Dishonered.
