Strategy guide worth it?

I didn't say YOUR experience. I'm saying the game would have much more immersion without a spoiler book. Which is my opinion.

And yet, it doesn't have any less immersion for me.

It goes like this. Get a manual ruin the experience of the game instead of finding things out for yourself. Thats what you really want? Maybe after I beat the game a couple times I might then look up something but I can't see how people are getting it during their first playthrough. :homestar:

Weak Sauce.

The guide enhances my role-playing style. If I know what lies ahead, I can mold my character correctly and not fumble my character through the awkwardness of having to change their playstyle/backstory/personality/etc... The guide gives me the ability to do this before hand. It also let's me know just what doors are open for my character. That's why I don't mind the spoilers that have been unleashed these past few days. It gives me clairvoyance into my character's path, lets me know what choices are best suited for my character.

Who says people are going to use it for a play by play first playthrough? Stop making general assumptions.
People get them to have something extra from something the like. People may read it while on the pooper about lore or look on the map for places they want to go etc.

As for me I pre ordered the Collectors so Im picking it up tomorrow.
Though Im not going to use it till im done my first playthrough or unless Im really stuck.
Might use it for character creation too, Im still kind of iffy on what to do so it should help.

I wasn't making any assumptions. I said I can't believe why people are using it during their first playthrough. I've seen threads about how they're going to use it as a step by step guide for the first playthrough and those are the people I was reffering to. So I guess your the one making assumptions.right?

Edit: @ Fyrisi your post makes sense but I prefer finding out those things on my on as its much more rewarding for me

I understand you're speaking directly from an "Immersion player" point of view, but role-playing is a wide spectrum and I role play differently. I'm more of a 'storyteller' role-player, in which I like to tell a story w/ my characters. Having a guide helps me do so in a natural manner.

EDIT: took out the top part.

All the same, I'm just trying to help you understand why a person would use a guide- especially if they enjoy role-playing as well. It's not weak to use a guide, it's just a person's way of playing.

Yeah, everyone will always play different and I wasn't trying to argue with anyone I was just trying to understand why people use a guide. Thanks for explaining.

To each his own.

I rather go for a normal Skyrim copy and a strategy guide, than a collectors edition Skyrim with a silly dragon statue.

I only really get strategy guides for TES. Even if you feel like it is cheating it is still just a good read. Hopefully I can grab a collector's edition guide tomorow when I go to pick up my pre order.

It's good toilet material. Those who are "too good" to have something to read while taking a dump, well then...don't know what to tell you.

Nonot worth it, ruins the fun of the game and also if you want it that bad theres always a full guide at ign or somewhere else completely free.

Understandable, didnt know if those were the people you were talking about.
Those people that use it as a step by step on the first playthrough sadden me too, it kills the experience of it all in my opinion as well.

I think it will be but I want to experience the game without it first. The reason it will be is the manual is much less detailed and helpful than it was in Oblivion. It doesn't even have the perk trees.
