Stay in your car, apperantly dragons roam those parts.
I remember when I was visiting there it swooped down and ate my pet turtle, I cried for days...

Florida, then? I understand that it's never snowed there in recorded history. Or at least not enough to stick.

Snow is fun, but when it happens all of the time it just becomes annoying. "Oh great, it's snowing again. Okay, where did I put my windshield scraqer? Dammit, I wish my heater worked."
I did read than an Icelandic volcano eruption in the 1700s caused a global climate changed which in turn resulted in ice in the Mexican Gulf, which is kinda where Florida is.

Or I am completely wrong :P

I don't know, I don't study climate history. Although who's to say? Nobody really cared about Florida back then. I believe that it belonged to the Spanish. Or maybe it was the French?

The first picture looks like a frozen lake almost, quite nice even though I know its through the wind screen.

So what actually happened to your car? Why couldn't you get it to your house? I don't understand the lack of concern for his car at the moment.

Probably because of all the snow? If he moved his car closer to his house, it'd get snowed in.

I live in the middle of nowhere, there is about 2m of snow covering everything in a kilometer radius of my house. If I tried to move the car any closer it would just get stuck in snow somewhere. So I left it and I'm going to walk to it again tomorrow to go to school.

That looks like it was quite the trek. also, nice sunglasses (like a boss.)

Over here, if we get snow, then it is like a miracle, considering that i live close to the tropics... lol

You should tell your grandkids about this.

Sounds like quite the adventure. We once drove from Vernon to Vancouver and ran into a massive storm up in the mountain passes. The drive usually takes 5-6 hours. It took us something like 13. Driving through mountain roads where we couldn't see the road in front of us, but worse, couldn't see the sides.

Thats scary :bolt:

I remember my sister driving through fog at night after a football game, and we could not see the road at all.

Up north huh ? I've only visited up north a couple of times or so over the winter and it was just the area near Hólmavík on the north western corner where my father hails from. And those times it wasn't particularly snowy so no getting stuck on the way forth nor back :P didn't figure you to be living up north considering your apparent areas of interest.

Also, 22banani... ape avatar... coincidence or a theme ?

Coincidence, it's not even my account :P

and yeah, I live about 30 minutes from Akureyri and the mountain road I was on is Víkurskare, which is pretty much hell these days because of all the snow. <_<

aha! good point. So by leaving your car, you are actually saving it and not abandoning it. I will use this knowledge some day when I get stuck in a certain situation. If my kids are asking "Dad why are you leaving the car out here?" I will reply "because a wise man on the internet once told me it is better to leave your car where it isn't stuck then to drive further and get it stuck."

My job will require me to drive all over Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. One of the places I have to go to goes over 3 passes that are between 10,000 and 11,000 feet, one of which is Red Mountain. It was featured on a show called Dangerous Drives. 47 miles of switch backs and 1000 foot drops and no guardrails. You will have time to contemplate the mistakes in your life as you plummet into the canyon.

Anyway, I have been over that pass, and most others, in full on white out blizzards. One time, they closed the road after I started up as the weather conditions were so bad. When I came down the other side, the Sherrif and the CDOT folks were quite amazed that I made it. I have also been on roads that if it were not for the reflector markers on the little poles, I would not know where the road is. Kind of take it on faith that there is road beneath the rubber.
Ahhh. You're one of those admins.

Since you're curious about snow, here are a few pictures of the valley I live in and one video of my friend

He needs to come up with some kind of sled arrangement for the trip back down :o. The tricky bit would figuring out how to carry the bike on it while still being able to carry it on the bike...

But once he's worked out the kinks, I reckon he could make a fortune .

I read about how you were stuck on a mountain but didn't really have anything to say, then I remembered this video.
