"Sword of freezing" "Ring of sneaking" "

Does anyone else feel that there is a lack of hand placed unique items in Skyrim? It feels as if every chest I open the game randomizes a few values - "weapon/apparel, enchantment type, value". The only unique items I've noticed are some of the weapons you can find when killing dragon priests or doing daedric quests. But that's it. Everything shares the same model and the only difference is the enchantment.

It's hard to look forward to the end of a dungeon when I know all I'm going to get is some randomly enchanted warhammer, a couple enchanted rings with the same effects I've found before, and some kind of major circlet. It's rare that something is worth keeping, especially when I can replicate any of these items with my enchantment skill. Whats the point of plundering dungeons if I can go to whiterun and buy a gold ring, buy a soul gem, and then enchant it?

Oblivion didn't have many handplaced items either. Maybe someday we'll see a return to epic loot tucked away in the dark recesses of challenging dungeons, like in Morrowind.

I've been happy so far. All the familiar armor/weapon types are there with some few exceptions. Such as Mithral. My only hangups with gear at the moment is being unable to craft Silver weapons/armor and some other minor limitations with Smithing. Sure there are hex mods for that stuff but I'll wait to do my own modding for it when the CS comes out. I prefer to have quests made where your character actually learns the skills for crafting as opposed to just using an anvil.

I was hoping for something like all the different daedric helmets in Morrowind, each of them unique yet mundane so you could apply your own enchantment.....oh well :sadvaultboy:

Minus a few exceptions like daedric and the fat lute, I'm pretty sure Morrowind was the same. Oblivion too, minus Fin Gleam, Brusef Amelion's armour, and almost every merchant (which was a bit repetitive after a while - what have you got for sale? Oh, MORE unique clothes? I'm only here for your arrows, sorry).

There are tons of unique weapons in the game. You just have to look for them in areas you wouldn't expect. I found a rare 2 handed hammer, Trollsbane, just laying on a corpse in a little Troll digout on the side of a mountain. Talk to people in cities, a lot of them will give you a stupid quest but you will come across a rare weapon or be rewarded with one. Not counting Daedric artifacts I've accumulated 23 rare weapons on my warrior and display them proudly in my houses.

It just feels like there's no incentive to want to go into dungeons. Sure they look awesome, Bethesda did an amazing job building them. But lackluster loot and repetitive enemy types makes it all very underwhelming.

Okay, admit it: You've got a program to crank these comments out, right? "Oblivion didn't have __________________________ either. Maybe someday we'll see a return to ___________________________, like in Morrowind." Sort of Mad Libs Complaints, right? ;)

I agree, I hope someone adds a mod with tons of unique and interesting artifacts to find. Finding some awesome item unlike any other hidden away in a the reason I play RPGs.

You're telling someone who thinks this game has too much randomized loot to go play Borderlands... there aren't enough palms in the world for my face right now.

Morrowind was packed full of great unique stuff that made exploring worthwhile - and the best thing was that some of it lay past tough enemies, while some of it could even be picked up by low level characters if they found it. I remember finding a great ring in a one-room tomb at level 3, for example. It was a great feeling, that exploration had been rewarded. In Oblivion, I think the only non-quest unique is Fin Gleam, which was a major downstep. Oblivion's most popular mod added loads of unique items to challenging dungeons (and throughout the world). TBH I expected Skyrim to do better, but apparently not.

Skyrim has it all leveled. At levels 1-10 I was finding silver rings with weak enchantments. And now at level 46 I'm getting diamond rings with stronger enchantments. There never is that moment where you find something that's a game changer. Instead, I'm doing the exact same thing at level 46 as I was doing at level 10:

1. Enter random dungeon
2. Kill a bunch of draugr
3. Defeat the boss
4. Open the chest in the end room, grab circlets and rings and randomly enchanted weapon
5. Leave through the dungeons quick exit
6. Travel to the closest town to sell loot, as none of it is worth keeping and selling it is it's only purpose

I think even the unique weapons are leveled. My friend and I found Chillrend and they both have different damage outputs. Lame..

I agree. On top of all that, the unique weapons I do find are pretty crappy overall.

Leveled loot is the worst. Something that could have been awesome forever is useless because you found it too early.

This.

Bethesda should have included something like the KOTN armor stand from Oblivion that would level your items once you reached a higher level.

Yes & no, the reason why u feel that doing dungeons are worthless is simply because of crafting wich pretty much ruined it. Especially since u get the best gear (legit, not using exploit) with just blacksmithing, let alone if u exploited.

But on top of that, some uniques do lvl with u aka in a bad way if u do certain things and get rewarded with f.ex a unique weapon with a lesser enchant on it.

I think it's the whole thing were they took away über finds and replaced it with a system were we can make über gear.

And I don't mean like game breaking über... Like how on oblivion how you could find cool enchanted arrows... Or weapons/armor that you couldn't possibly make by enchanting.

Fable did the same thing... I just don't understand why game developers find it hard to have a decent crafting system, and have special gear you can find.

I was really disappointed when I had the Blade of Woe... Super lame... Now I can create something better. Yea it don't look like it, but it's way better.

Really, only quest rewards are unique, there may be a couple non-quest related unique items, but they would be few and far between.

What bugs me is there's tons of really well hidden chests that stuff could be hidden in. I really hope someone makes a mod, I even made a nice list of some good modifiers that could be found on items.

Thing is, I'm pretty sure nearly all of these artifacts are connected to a quest, not found randomly at the bottom of a random dungeon.

Only exception would by Dyvath Fyr's tower though that's kind of special.

Thats not because it s leveled, but you prbably have different skill in one handed, thats why the dmg is different

No, there actually IS a lot of unique stuff. You just really need to look for it. And it's is NOT where you think it should be. THAT'S why you feel good when you find one though.

But believe me, it's really not like in Morrowind where you look around in dungeons and spots where it feels "hey, there's probably something there". I once saw a random body lyng in the woods, the guy had a unique battleaxe.
Next, go on top of a certain mountain, higher than i'm supposed to, find a unique pickaxe.

The only regret I have with it is that the models themselves are rarely unique, they're mostly just a retexture, and sometimes they're simply the same basic thing with a unique enchantement. But there IS unique stuff. Keep looking

I think there comes a point where you level up to a status that the loot doesn't level with you.

I was rolling through dungeons and scoring gear that I went "Oooo...aaaah....the magic 'whatever' of 'whatever'...and coin! Woweee!", now I'm at the level where I pick open or simply will open a chest, and I picture my character rustling through it going "cr*p...cr*p...health potion...coin...more cr*p...ancient nord cr*p thingy, mmmm, nuh...." and I've walked out of dungeons thinking "Well, the word was nice..."
