Swords!

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:33 pm

Just wanted to post this because I was excited when I saw it!

Looks like the Shishkebab with different colored flames, I wonder if it's simply for decorative purposes or if the colour gives the sword a different effect. What other swords do you think will be in Fallout 4?

I'm hoping for a variety.

Definitely cool looking. Hopefully it's not just a concept art piece and actually made it into the game. Looks like a backpack-less Shiskebob

Consider we see a 3D render in there in my book that means they gone far enough into the concept that its very likely its in the game.

Jesus Christ that is a terrifying thought. Shishkabob with a chainsaw. A flaming chainsaw

The Ripper also looks really cool as well, instead of being a small pocket-knife it can now be utilized as a massive Ripper sword, which also looks really badass as well.

With the mod and weapon building system we can assume we'll see tons of different options when it comes to bladed weapons.

Would love a sword, and various other customizable melee weapons all customizable to the baseball bat's extent.

Hoping for customizable swords for sure.

It would be cool if we could make a Quantum powered Shishkebob. I would definitely rock a melee character with a Shishkebob and rocket powered super sledge.

Those are nice and definitely will fit for a strictly melee character, but for my guns characters I hope to see a little more, um, compact melee weapons, such as a new version of the combat knife. Perhaps some of the mods we can get for it turn it into something like the "Trench Knife" from Operation Anchorage.

Seems like one of the modifications for a sword is to turn it into a shishkebab

Shishkebab with a blue flame probably is a modded weapons, like you can add some chemical into fuel deposit or do some other thing to increase flame's temperature and thus it will do more fire damage.

As a bonus, you will get blue flame.

Perhaps Quantum? The explosion in a Nuka Grenade was bluish too.

Yeah, maybe you will need to find rare nuka-colas for modding certain weapons.

I can't imagine any other effect a flame could give a shishkebob other than "burn things".

Blue flames are typically hotter than yellow flames (this isn't always the case depending on which molecules are in the mix, oxygen, etc), so perhaps the blue flame sword deals more damage.

Edit

I just saw what Djoan wrote, I think he's probably right.

I would hope there would be swords in this game. Otherwise my Ninja character would be very .

The new Shishkabob looks incredible though. I am most likely looking too much into the art, but I wonder if you could take a regular, non-flaming sword and turn it into a Shishkabob.

Indeed it is. The text on the page reads: "A more compact version of the original, this uses a potent fuel so you don't have to carry a motorcycle tank around."

Someone suggested in another thread we might be able to mod the Shishkebab so that instead of fire, it does Cryolator or electrical damage. That would be sweet. Me, I'll stick with the cleansing flames of Agador.

That would be awesome-sauce. I want to have a sword which does electrical damage, or possibly some sort of energy weapon sword which does that sort of damage as well.

Are the flames even necessary? Haha - If you get hit by a chainsaw, the chances of you surviving are already around the 0. :D

Some of you need to go view the actual file on the Blog so you can zoom in on the pictures. Those are 2 different weapons. The more compact Shiskabab (no tank needed) is on the left and the Ripper is on the right....they are unrelated weapons and the Ripper does not light up. Also, the ripper is not a full sized sword, but still a smaller weapon (like a large electric carving knife). While the placement of the images side by side makes the Ripper appear as big as the Shshkabab, if you look at the handles you can see the Ripper is obviously zoomed in much closer (and is thus relatively smaller). They obviously did that to provide maximum detail of the art in the book and not to intentionally fool viewers (the book is there to showcase the art, not advertise the weapons to prospective users).

Just check out the shishkebab variations in the middle, different blades! It seems one is a katana blade or something similar, and one could just be the original lawnmower blade. Maybe there will be short blade variations, too.

It makes me wonder about stealth kills, in previous games when you killed with the shishkebab in super dark areas and no one saw, the other npcs weren't programmed to even noticed a corpse lit on fire lying on the floor...hopefully such a thing is a consideration now.

Chainsaw swords!?

On another topic, like i've said before, BGS certainly doesn't half-ass when it comes to things and places design, that concept art looks awesome

And also like i've said before, if they paid as much attention to their mechanics, no one would need to buy any other game ever again :lmao:
