Talos, the god.

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:55 am

There is a ton of facts a lore buff can give that proves he is a god, but here is a real simple one. You needed an Aedric (god) artifact to finish the main quest in Oblivion, and you used his armor. This makes his godhood so essential that if the lore ever changed one of the games would fail to make any sense at all. So he is a god and you Thalmor naysayers need to get over it.
Indeed.

how can the planets be planes when i see two round moon out in space every time i look up.

Because the mortal realm cannot percieve the Aedra as they are, and thus the Aedric planes are percieved as 'planets' that are seen in the sky. The Moon's are the litteral decaying body of Lorkhan.

No, its canon lore.

No, its not cannon lore. There are numerous holes in the Septim line and just beause the Blades (who have been indoctrinated into the Empire since Remen) and the books (where the majority of your holes come from, and are all written by Imperial scholars) say that the Septims were all Dragonborn doesn't make it so. Want further proof? Tiber Septim's line died with his http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Septim_DynastyPeligus and his brothers line took over. None of the Emperors after Peligus were decendents of Tiber Septim.

What I must say that alarms me most is that the prophecy encompasses the 5 current games... But that's it. There's no more to it.

In short... Now what?

Like all things, just because its said 'in game' doesn't make it true. Just like in real life you can't take everything at face value, especially when it makes no sense.

Well this might apply in real life, but in a game the developers of the story aren't trying to lie/trick/convince you of things. Their trying to tell a story.

Their trying to create a living breathing world. Different books have different varrying accounts. One book claim Talos is a God, another claims the opposite. Do that mean both are right just because their written? TES has never been about spoon feeding you the answer.

It's a difference of opinion, on that subject yea sure it can be debatable, I had lost track of the point of the thread and was rambling about other things. ( That's what i was referring to. )

Topics like these are best saved for the Lore forum. In Skyrim General Discussion, all there is is a bunch of people who are very unfamiliar with the lore and how thinks work putting forth their own underdeveloped ideas and theories that they come up with on the spot that are always entirely wrong.

To put it bluntly: Talos is a god. Yes, he is not an Aedra or a Daedra, he is more than both. Talos is the most powerful being the Aurbis has ever seen. The Thalmor know this, which is why they want to unmake him by removing him from pantheons. Also, Talos wasn't just Tiber Septim. The god that became Talos is an oversoul of three mortals: Tiber Septim, Zurin Arctus, and Wulfharth. The End.

A good majority of people here likely won't ever go to the lore fourm, yet will still get engrosed in the lore. Most as you say, are unfamiliar with lore, and theres no reason to keep our knowledge of lore tied up in the lore fourm where it is discussed by the same people over and over again.

It's a difference of opinion, on that subject yea sure it can be debatable, I had lost track of the point of the thread and was rambling about other things. ( That's what i was referring to. )

Exactly, its all debatable because nothing presented in game is 100% factual. You can't quote one book written by a biesed source and say 'this is how it is'. You have to use multiple sources to to fill in the gaps to get the whole story. If you don't, you will never uncover the truth.

In Morrowind Talos like all the other divines had an Avatar, when you worship at a Talos altar you get a blessing, as a mere mortal he defeated demi-gods whom themselves were feared by the Daedric Princes and as grandmaster of the Knights of the Nine, Talos' blesses you with a gift to enter the spirit realm of Oblivion and vanquish Umaril the Unfeathered's spirit... In my point-of-view I believe Talos is the continuation or heir of Lorkhan and that might explain why the Thalmor hate Talos and would go great lengths to see that any worship or belief in him be halted.

I seriously wonder if an un-cursed Jyggalag could be an equal match for Talos. Jyggalag, before cursed to be half mad, was the most powerful of the Daedric princes, and sounds like he was by a large margin.

No, its canon lore. That book was written to clear up, or at least give more insight on the whole Dargonborn 'thing'. Its not propaganda, or fiction. Its in game canon lore. Know more about the ES, or actually read the book I linked.

Really? so who told you that out of all the books on the subject, that that paticular book written by a biesed source is the real interpretation?

Its not bias. That's really the only book on the subject matter. Know more about ES. Or, you know, actually read it and see that its not only not bias, but has facts in it.

Know more about TES. There are numerous books on the subject. Yes, it is biesed, its written by the blades during Peligus VI's reign, far from the Tibers orgional conception or when the Blades were intorduced in Remens reign. Off the top of my head, Read the Amulet of Kings.

Read the book. And no, there's not a bunch of books on the subjects matter. There's only one book by Beth that tries to wrap up what Dragonborn is, and its that book. Its not bias, and is canon lore. It is known. Actually read it next time.

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Amulet_of_Kings_%28Book%29breaches the same topic and the book of the Dragonborn is written by the Cult of Talos, which is linked with the Blades. Now again, where is it said offically that that book is meant to clear up the Dragonborn link? Note, the Amulet of Kings attempts to make a link between Alessia's covenent and the Septims.

Its the only book that directly tries to solve the matter. Its meant to clear up the matter. Not so propaganda. LOL at people in denial because of their apparent race partisanship. Its lore, read it next time.

Its called knowing ES, and not being a blind secular ignoramus.

Seriously, to anybody, read it. It in no way reads as bias propaganda. It lists facts and even foretells the future. Its obviously meant to be canon lore to try and clear up a vague, contradictory subjects. If it were meant to be propaganda, there would have been more Skyrim exclusive books on Dragonborn, and, or trying to explain and flesh it out. Common sense really.

Your right of cource, because a single book, written by the cult of Talos who is trying to forge a link between Tiber (the only dragonborn septim) and the other Septims as Dragonborn, who came from his brothers line (not one Septim after Peligus I is a direct decendet of Tiber) means that it is of cource right. The very fact that it's written by 'The Cult of Talos' makes it a biesed source. I don't see how you can refute that other than just yell 'nuhuh' louder and pretending to know more than the average bear.

Seriously, it reads as speculative theory. Because its the only book doesn't make it irrifutable fact.

Bias accounts don't give differing views and opinions. Read next time. Obviously unbiased writing is obvious. He have some sort of personal beef with the Empire, Blades, Imperials, or something, who knows? Who cares really. All that matters is that book is in fact in game canon lore. And until you have prof that proves it wrong, it will remain as such.

Stop trying to tell me to read, I read it when the book came out. It gives no facts. Many of the things it mentions are innacurate. For instance, the books says only those with Dragonborn blood can wear the amulet and lite the fires. The Amulet was made in Alessias time and the Dragonfires in Remens. The two are not connected and the fires are all but ritual.
