Tame Dragons a Shout?

Overview

Travel beyond Skyrim

With this official add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, journey off the coast of Morrowind, to the island of Solstheim. Encounter new towns, dungeons, and quests, as you traverse the ash wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. Become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons. Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary – the first Dragonborn.

what caught my attention was
"Become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons."

so does this mean that we use a shout to tame a dragon for a certain amount of time or does it mean we become stronger that we will just be able to tame a dragon through a process?

just want to see what everyone elses opinion is on this and what they take from this statment.

thanks!

Going only by what they have said, "become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons", would imply you can use a shout to "tame a dragon". Though, as with all things, it depends on the context this sentence was used. The "and" between "enemies" and "tame" would imply a shout can do THIS and THIS. However, in a different context it could also mean that a shout does THIS and we also have the ability to "tame dragons".

It's my logical time of day so hope I haven't complicated things

EDIT: You could also take the context that article is written in and say, "does this mean I can only tame dragons whilst in Solstheim? If not, how would this affect someone who has/hasn't finished/started the main questline?"

Very exciting! If you do tame dragons through a shout, then I'm hunting down a legendary dragon ASAP when this is released.

If we do get a shout that tames dragons it will probably be temporary mind control thing.

that could be dangerous if you do Mind control them for a time and your riding one it will be a long way down once it wears off....

Perhaps but it wouldn't make sense if we could go mind [censored] and tame an army of dragons lol.

very true unless there is a 1 dragon Mind controlled at a time restriction...but then again who knows. we will have to wait and see when it comes out.

Perhaps but where would they go when you enter a city or dungeon would be a problem seeing as how people of Skyrim all except the Greybeards seem to think the only good dragon is a dead dragon.

how else would you ride a dragon? i'm guessing it will be the dragon version of breaking a wild horses spirit in order to make it tame enough to ride

maybe the battle between u and the first dragon born would entail you building an army of dragons to kill him, since he DOES consume them it makes since that they would rather be on your side then his lol just IMO

Yeah, I did think of that when I posted my suggestion, but as it's only a suggestion and one I doubt will actually be implemented, I didn't worry too much. The idea of the follower system when considered against how to tame one dragon fits until, as you've already said, you enter a small area or town. What about Markath?!

That would make them the most pathetic apex predator out there if all you had to do was hug them to make them behave lol

I feel we just had a little Fairy Tail moment there with Acnologia. That would be quite interesting twist for the Dovahkiin lol.

exactly why my theory makes sense, dragons respect the power of the thu'um (listen to paarthy and odah) so since your thu'um is stronger, a tame shout would make them yield and kneel to your strength thus letting you ride them...it works on the same principle as dragonrend

That could be but Paarthurnax also says that the dovah have an inborn need to be the strongest and rule everything imo flying a dragon acquired through that means just seems like a fast way for it to kill you and claim itself the new dovah lord lol.

I suspect in order to "tame" the dragon, you first have to wear it down. When he's injured and close to dying you can then use the tame shout to make him your (for lack of a better term...)[censored] essentially.

true but most dragons followed Alduin because his thu'um was strongest and those who didn't follow him didn't dare to challenge him because they knew better...but we bested Al and proved that our thu'um is strongest so naturally weaker dragons will submit to the strength of our thu'um and let us mount them over and over ;)
