Tea or coffee?

Both.
I'm intrigued with the idea of roasting my own coffee from green coffee beans with a home made device similar to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIO54NhGoTE.
Don't know if I'll ever do it, but I'm intrigued with the idea. One would have to find a good source that would sell you green coffee beans at a reasonable price to be worthwhile.
Normally I buy store bought roasted coffee beans and freshly grind one pot at a time. A 36oz bag of beans from Kroger runs $17-19 USD, and lasts a couple of weeks.
...in addition to a large cup of Tim Hortons several times a week...

Black coffee during the first part of the day...then hot orange/black pekoe tea with sugar later in the afternoon...usually.

I think "intriguing" is the right word for that thing! It looks like it could work, though. A friend of mine tried roasting her own beans with an ancient griddle-style roaster she found somewhere and said it really wasn't worth the bother, which I've heard from other people too. Not that I'm necessarily trying to dissuade you; not as much as I may need dissuading myself, I've spent enough on coffee-making accoutrements and it takes me long enough as it is! From what I understand, doing what you do with grinding the beans as you need them is really the key thing. We get ours from Cardew's and pay a not dissimilar amount for them.

:woot:

It would probably take a little bit of experimentation to get good at it...I'd hate to wind up with a bitter concoction anywhere near Starbucks...ahem...'quality'.

99.9% of the time I drink strong black tea (PG Tips brewed for 4 minutes) with a little bit of milk, no sugar. I used to put sugar in it, but then I took http://www.booksatoz.com/witsend/tea/orwell.htm and never looked back.

That seems like quite a lot of effort just to make a cup of tea.

Personally, I drink coffee in the mornings and tea in the afternoons, can't say which I prefer but there is nothing better than coming home after a long day out and just relaxing with a nice cup of tea.
