TES you broke my heart

captivating your imagination.
Those three words house my greatest worries about TES:O. If it successfully enthralls my imagination, will I be able to RP without people shouting N00bs, lols and that kind of stuff all over Tamriel? Only way to get rid of that kind of behaviour would be RP servers, and to make them work, there'd have to be strict regulations so there aren't xxxLOLkillzxx named characters. But anyway, will TES:O even be able to captivate my imagination? I doubt it.

You get into an RP guild and only leave /say and /shout on since in true RP there is no global.

ha I think I got trolled. I don't think its possible for anyone to be excited about this game.

Yep. If someone disagrees with you, they must be a troll. Solid argument.

The Main Event and Varking seem to be spending hours each day responding numerous times to snark at every and any person that doesn;t like the looks of this game. I'm pretty sure almost all of their posts are 'The Game looks Amazing' (Main Event) or 'Hope the door doesn't hit you on the way out/ leave the forum if you don't like it' (Varking)

Seriously. It's like these two have a notepad doc open that they cut and paste out of on every single topic.

If anything is worse than reading all the hate threads, it's the 2 guys here with nothing better to do than make post after post saying the same thing hundreds of times. Maybe I should start posting 'In Before Varking tells the OP to leave the forum!' on every thread. It would have as much content as most of his posts.

The game was broken as it went into the creators minds.

/yawn. little over dramatic there don't you think OP?

I also am excited for this game and enjoy how they will be implementing it. I concur that you forming such opinions based on the limited amount of information out about it is also silly. If it's the concept of an MMO that you dislike than I can understand why you wouldn't want TESO. But if you like the elder scrolls and playing with your friends and others while exploring then there's alot to be excited for.

Attacking post content != Attacking the poster. If you called me a curmudgeonly spoil sport, that would be a personal attack. If you told me that you were tired of me posting nothing but negativity about the game(which you have, if I recall), that would not be a personal attack. Regardless, there's room enough for everyone here, so can we please just go back to telling each other their wrong instead of making snarky accusations?

Bethesda is still a great developer. I hope TES Online doesnt fail so that it doesnt affect the regular TES single player games

Gotta agree. When i heard that TES: O was announced, i was ecstatic, considering i've been following TES series since TES II: Daggerfall in 1996. Easily the most memorable and greatest MMORPGs i've ever played, have been Ultima Online and Darkfall Online, both Sandbox MMORPGs with heavy, hardcoe PvP. I had high hopes for TES: O, until i read the part where they were going the route of the Themepark MMORPG (EQ/WoW Clones), something which is anathema to the very thought of TES series, which is open-world, Sandbox gameplay. TES series was built on the very principle of "Be who you want, do what you want". Zenimax Online seriously [censored] up on this one, and shot themselves in the foot. I'm still willing to give the game a try when it comes out, but i'm not nearly as stoked or optimistic about it as i was before.

That they stated "Real Time Combat" in an MMORPG was unrealistic due to latency, was pure garbage. Darkfall Online has Real Time Combat, and even though latency can affect it, latency can also affect combat in a "tab target, auto attack" game, just ask any MMORPG player. When DFO launched, we actually compared and likened it's combat system to TES IV: Oblivion. Hell, we even stated that if TES had an MMORPG, it would be Darkfall. So a Real Time Combat system is most definately possible in a MMORPG.

They also stated that housing would be next to impossible to incorporate into an MMORPG. Wrong again. Ultima Online, Darkfall Online, and Mortal Online all implemented player housing, although Darkfall Online and Mortal Online did not have near the variety of customization that UO or single player TES games have when it comes to house decorating.

Well they aren't real ES fans, they are just typical mmo players that will play anything as long as it is a mmo.
Untrue. I play this series since Morrowind first release , Im not a MMO player (they never appeal to me) but this I will play. May be im not a FANATIC cause I only like to ROLE PLAY. And I just see a lot of ROLE PLAY potential with other people and not just with souless NPC′s.

Here's a few snippets from TES II: Daggerfall Manual about what Role-Playing is.

"People who play role-playing games need more than some pretty graphics and nonstop action to whet their claymores; they want depth and character and wit and drama. They want the thickest, most involving novel that they've ever read translated to their 15' screen, with themselves as the hero."

"When players ask what the story of Daggerfall is, i imagine Macbeth asking what the story to Macbeth is before the play begins. You are the protagonist, the hero of the game - the story is what you decide to make it. There are going to be foils to your character: people who will try to stop some of your more grandoise goals, and people who are there to help if it serves them. But it is your aims and ambitions that frame the story. After all, role-playing games are plays in which the stars are members of the audience. Given a large, well appointed stage, a supporting cast of improvisationalists, and an alert backstage crew, they are capable of anything. And the best thing we game designers and programmers can do is give you what you want, and get out of your way."

"You have a challenge ahead of you in Daggerfall, in more ways than one. This is a game designed to encourage exploration and reward curiosity. There are opportunities to do great and heroic deeds, and, likewise, possibilities of indulging in less...virtuous activities. You are not required to follow a path of righteousness nor a path of depravity, but both roads and everything in between are open to you - just like in real life."

"And so we turn the question back to you, "What's the story?" It is not for us to answer. Follow your own spirit and tell your own story in your own way. We hope only to help you make it real."

THAT, is Role-Playing.

That is a definition based in THAT game. You never played a role game on paper with other people, do you ?

This game is taking the series in a direction I detest the MMO genre. I knew Bethesda would try to capitalize on the success of WoW and they will not topple that beast, this game will do ok probably and that is being optimistic in terms of sales, but as for the MMO train wreck that it will be I will pass. This also will anger fans of the series who wished it to remain a single player game.

So you mean single player gamers are OBLIGATED to play it? And If they are not, why they will be anger then ? If they wish to remain single player... they can. And wait the DLC of skyrim (As I, for I intend to play both, and the next TES when it comes)

Ill go ahead and jump in before it happens again Otheral.

Someone: "Bethesda isn't making the game."

Me: "The same game company is making the game; they simply created a different division specifically for TESO."

Someone: "Nuh uh"

Me: "Yuh huh!"

Also: Here's a fun fact skyrim and TESO were conceptualized around the same time. Give or take a year from what i can find.

I was just making a point lol at overlooking it, I did not say they was obligated to play it. With Skyrim the series was gutted now Bethesda is playing the me too card in joining the MMO scene.

I voiced my distaste for ESO and MMOs on here now for years, I know another division has their hands on the reins of ESO, just stating what I think of it.

We meet again! I should remember here too, that in the Morrowind first video scene, it says....

http://i1-games.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/The-Elder-Scrolls-III-Morrowind-Mod-Video-Bethesda-Logo-Re-Make_1.jpg

So ZeniMax was there from LONG AGO. And I find no problem with it since the so called BEST GAME (I think it is too) was developed while bethesda was a zeni max studio.
So what′s the deal? What′s the problem?
Its just ANOTHER GAME for Azura′s sake.
You like it, play it. You are curious, try it. You dont like and hate MMO′s, dont even look it, and keep your eyes on SP games.

Im with you here. I dont play MMO′s and I can say the things I dont like of them are the "no sense play" with lot of people using names like "xXUBER-KILLERXx" and whose only speach is "I will kill u n00bz" thingy.
So I hope they will make a pure ROLE server as I stated before.

No problems with anything you said except I won't call it the best game. I've just seen far too much of the "Bethesda isn't making the game" response in many threads. Most who use it are ill informed it seems. So I thought I'd just run in and talk to myself because I have nothing better to do right now.

Dont worry, I dont state it as an absolute fact. The correct way is to say "TO ME is the best Game I′ve played" . But just to me! As many other things, is just my opinion.

I just have an extreme distatse for them to me they are glorified social sites that you pay for every month. I am going to follow this game to try to gain more info on it, but as far ad me ever playing it no I will not.
