[REL] TESV Acceleration Layer, thread no 2

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 3:56 am

I'm glad this is being worked on. If anyone comes up with an update that I am allowed to upload on Nexus I will be happy to so. I will make sure to give any and all contributors credit for their work.
You may want to put a big warning on the Nexus right now, that this does have some observed side effects, but that people are working on them. You can even give the opening example so people can choose for themselves as to whether they want to install it or not.

After having a weird (not so much different from the normal vanilla game...buggy as it is but still.) experience in my main game at the end of the Stormcloak rebellion quest line in Solitude last night and the bug everyone is reporting being related to going with the Storrmcloak guy at the beginning I decided to test for myself.

Last night when the Solitude raid began I had thought that I remembered the Imperials would pour out endlessly to fight until you enter the castle but that is not what happened in my game after the initial waves of Imperials were wiped out Ulfric, Galmar& everyone just sheathed their weapons and stood around until I went through the door into the castle. I waited and ran around a Looooooooooog time before this as I had called a Dragon and wanted to witness a huge epic battle since the imperials would keep coming...no dice. So I finally went into the castle played out the end game and another odd thing... The battle music kept playing endlessly no matter where I went in Solitude, even AFTER the battle and aftermath where Ulfric makes his speech and everyone stands down outside the castle.

The battle music FINALLY cut off when I fast traveled to another city and it loaded me there.

So upon seeing the posts here I just tried to replay the beginning with a new character... When the gate to Helgin opened the horse never stopped walking and almost turned over the prisoner cart and got hung upright on the gate door walking endlessly into nothing and the game would never move past it as the cart couldn't enter the town.

So then I used my "just before character creation save to jump ahead right before you choose to follow the Stormcloak soldier and once I hit the point where we're supposed to hide and ambush the Imperials everyone stops and stands there until I enter the room and then they just stand there while me and Mr Storm cloak murder them.

This mod has improved my games smoothness SOOOOO much I hope a workaround can be found for it.

I am an Win 7/64 Athalon X2 dual core 939 user with latest version of Skyrim and other than this I am using only various texture mods and Realistic Colors and Real Nights v14 with HDR

In the second line of the description I added a note in caps about this. Thanks for the suggestion Silverglade.

Do you think it is worthwhile to post my fix for now with the understanding that research is continuing and further fixes are likely?

What I would do is leave the old version up and post your version as a test version to see if the Helgen quest glitch is fixed as an alternative. I do have the source folder listed as a separate download now and I can update that as needed. If you want to pm the file to me I will get it uploaded.

I think that's a good idea, as then people who have issues like the invisible anvil in Markath, etc. can see if those go away too. If ALL issues disappear, then it's most likely a good fix. But this download would be ONLY for people having issues...it shouldn't be offered to *everyone* until we can test it.

That's a known game bug that has nothing to do with this mod. It's already on the USP tracker somewhere.

Hmm, I also experienced the Helgen bug and didn't notice any FPS improvement.

Win 7 64-bit
AMD Phenom II 965
ATI Radeon 5770
Skyrim on max settings (anti-aliasing, not FXAA)
SKSE + texture mods only

Yeah no FPS difference for me. Well, it seemed to stabalize things, but not really improve them. For example, in whiterun before installing, I would get 11-15 fps, after installing I got constant 13-14, so less fluctuation but not really any improvement... >.>

It's much more efficient for your GPU to force AA and AF than to use the in game settings. I get better FPS with 8x AA/AF forced than I do with 4x AA/AF in game. I'm running an AMD 6850 btw.

Actually, I just removed the files and replaced them and tried running it again and I received 10-15 fps gain this time. I don't think I changed any file names, and the SKSE log said it loaded the first time.

Still had the Helgen imperial bug though.

I'll try this a couple more times and see if the FPS gain is consistent.

Edit: Nevermind, must be a fluke that the FPS increased all the sudden. Still get the same FPS with or without this mod. Also, it appears something just rewrote/corrupted my settings (ie graphics and in-game dialog settings) as they are reset all of the sudden.

Just tested the Ralof route and experienced the same bug, the guards in the keep haven't attacked us and Ralof just stands still. Talking with him does not solve the problem. Specs as follows.

Windows Seven Home Premium 64bit
i7 960
SKSE with no mods

A couple of reports on the Nexus in the last hour or so report that this seems to stop working after a reboot of the computer. No other details given.

I am getting the Ralof bug as well, Win7 64-bit, Core2 E7600. SKSE + TESV only, no other mods or .ini tweaks, reproducible only with TESV (not SKSE by itself). As an aside, I do not notice any load time increases or crashes with TESV.

If someone posts a link to a modified version of the DLL, I'll be happy to test it out. I'd like to help any way I can to get a working version, this game is severely CPU bound on my machine for some reason, and the FPS increase is right at the sweet spot were it is very noticeable in certain areas.

This is a nice mod. It calls the attention for the better. Good job! :goodjob:

Running a 5870. Using catalyst drivers 11.12. AF x16 gives best results forced in the drivers. However, AA forced to x4 seemed to be performing lower than letting the game handle it. I suspect because the game can turn off AA for transparency alone where using the driver forces everything to be AA. It would be nice to test it but I can't right now. :wavey:

I would gladly help by testing the modified version too.

I couldn't find the related thread on Nexus, but I rebooted and still get the same behavior:
With TESV: Ralof bug
Without TESV: Ralof working normally.

Letrazzrot, the reports are here: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387 in the comments tab.

They are particularly saying that the FPS rate goes back to normal after reboot. Can you verify that?
