Thank you Bethesda. Hours gone.

So, I've dealt with the frame rate issues, which has proven to be more of a headache than anything. I've allowed [censored], 64-bit era textures to pop up sporadically, because I still felt some semblance of enjoyment from this game. I didn't even mind that my game had frozen countless times for no reason.

However, after spending countless hours to reach level 15, skipping class in the process like I'm sure many of us have done, only to wake up and see this...

"LOLOL DELETD UR SAV FILE! U MAD?"

No excuse for this Bethesda. A big middle finger to you for stealing my money, my time, and coercing me into skipping class for your [censored]-excuse of a port.

I don't get it. If you could turn the rant knob down a little and increase the explanation parameter by a few notches, then that would be perfect.

Who deleted your file?

Nobody deleted it. Turned the system off last night to go to bed, loaded it up this morning and saw that I could only start a new game. There isn't a single save file on my system.

No the auto-save wasn't overwritten with someone else's character. And I didn't shut the system off mid-save.

Magic I tell ya!

Going to have some folks look into this.

I assume when you checked in the morning, the PS3 was logged into the same user account?

Skipping class to play? What a major fail on your part. While Skyrim is totally awesome, it is by no means an excuse to skip class. also I have had no issues with my PS3 and have logged nearly 20 hours with no issues, nadda, so maybe your issue is hardware related? I also agree with the above poster - turn down the rant and turn up the clarity.

If you understand what that means, afterall you have decided to forgo education in favor of playing a video game, a great game - but a game nonetheless.

Oh get off your self-absorbed high horse for a moment. I make exceptional grades and I am an advlt capable of making my own decisions.

It could very well be hardware-related, but I doubt it. It's one thing for hardware to corrupt a file, it's another to have it deleted altogether.

Regardless, thank you so for contributing to the conversation. I'm glad everything is working great on your end! :celebration:

Thank you for the timely response. It appears I'm not the only one having this issue. I'm sure you can gauge the frustration within the PS3 community. Same user account and everything. Checked my hard drive for any sort of evidence that I still had a save file, but it's completely gone.

The game data (updates/installation) is still there, however.

Reload a save from one of your back-ups...... Either from PSN+, an external hard-drive or a usb stick.

Well, unfortunately for me I didn't feel the need to back-up my saves.

Useless post ever.I think if he had a backup, he wouldn't be so pissed off don't you think (and no i'm sorry, you don't have to backup every single save you have in your ps3, you assume it works properly that's why some save just can't be moved on an usb key or anything else (Dragon age, tekken, heavy rain...)

Couple things to check:

Make sure you selected the correct PS3 profile.
Also does anyone else play the game? maybe someone else deleted it.
Check for other saved games besides skyrim, are they still there?
Were you saving games to an external drive?
Was there a power outage?

Oh yeah one more thing, did you do any manual saves or did you just rely on the autosaves?

Nobody played my system, I only use one profile, all other saves from other games are present on my HDD, no external, no power outage.

Also I had kept one manual save updated in case something like this happened, but mostly I went off of the auto-save.

Maybe there is something thats infected on your ps3 like a malware virus or something... Did you download anything recently onto your ps3? If you did then i'd check that file and probably get it removed and save your files and do a clean sweep just to be safe who knows.. it could have keylogged your details.

Hope you get it fixed mate.

I'm sorry dude, that would be a huge kick in the ___ . It's too bad instead of feeling empathy some people would rather snipe and take cheap shots.

I highly, hiiiighly doubt this, but no I haven't downloaded anything onto my PS3. I firmly believe this to be a coding issue.

To the people telling you to stop ranting and what not, He has every right to be plenty angry.

I haven't experienced anything this serious yet but I have no faith that I wont.
And even if I don't, the horrible lagging is making the game almost unplayable at times.

Bethesda, I believe you can redeem yourselves. But I seriously doubt you will.

Can you blame me?

It's just sad.
I feel so sorry for the people who have obviously put their soul into this game and have no control over the technical side of this game.
To you all I say, Thank you for such an amazing game. Seriously A+++.

Now to the people responsible for the games testing. You failed completely.

If I were head of Bethesda you would all lose your jobs.
It only took me a few hours of gameplay to start experiencing these obvious problems.
So either A, You failed to properly test the game (or test it at all)
Or B, The game was sold knowing is was broken.

Either way it is completely unacceptable.
Again, Thank you to those who had no control over this and helped make such an amazing game.

I'm sorry your company failed you, and the rest of us.

The problem is that you fix a bug and it can make ten more, then more code is added and the bug is back with more of its mates, you fix those and you have more than before you started. These games can have hundreds of thousands of bugs (the WoW EMUs had bug numbers in the millions)

You fix an npc not moving and all the trees disapear on the other side of the map, you fix the trees and the game crashes and so on and so forth. You have to kill x npc with x sword then y npc with x sword then z npc with x sword, now you kill x npc with x sword and b helmet then y npc with x sword and b helmet and on and on it goes. On top of all this you have Zenimax telling you that you must make deadline or you're outta there to join the unemployment line.

All of this is going on while they make this huge and complex game. If you were head of gamesas you wouldn't have a company left to manage by the end of the four year development cycle. There comes a point in time (usually as the deadline approaches to go gold) that you have to leave the non-fatal bugs and move the game foward. This is why they patch games post gold and this is also why they go through customer feedback trying to re-create the bugs people are reporting.

This is the price we pay if we want games this big in a corporate society, it's the nature of the beast.
