I don't love them, like them or hate them.

They have a lot of decent songs, several good ones. But I for the most part, find them annoying, especially their drug induced music. I don't go out of my way to listen to them. I will go out of my way to change the station. But, if its a song I like I'll listen. I think honestly, my issue with them is that they are over popular, played out. I liked them more when I was a kid but as I grew older I noticed that there was just too much of them. So, now I find them more annoying than anything.

Topics are for discussion and he/she wasn't bashing, hating or anythign so why should he/she?

At any rate, I respect and admire The Beatles for what they've done for music but I only know a few of their songs and some I like, others are "meh"

He can say he doesn't like and/or hate them if he wants. I would prefer that actually. I tend to shy away from places that only offer mindless praise.

Anyway, I like the Beatles. Especially the later years from say 1967-1970.

I liked the solo stuff from Ringo Starr and George Harrison much more than the combined Beatles stuff. Truth be told, Paul and John were holding the group back.

I love the BEATLES. Ive read the beatles biog, lennons biog, and 2 harrison biogs. I never get tired of reading about their story. Reading the beatles biog is something everyone should do at some point.. its a lesson in history.

George harrison did the best solo stuff by far. He was a totally awake soul if you read his lyrics.. 'art of dying' is a great example.

Are you looking for facts or an opinion?

For one fact, they wrote some of the most frequently covered songs ever written.

They were the blueprint for every modern rockband.. young and atractive, and in touch with youth culture. You had outspoken/political frontman Lennon, the cute bassist Paul, the quiet mysterious lead guitarist George..

They made experimentation ok.. they made deviating from what people wanted of them ok, they did their own thing. The mop-top and black suit look was a product of their manager Brian epstein.. before epstein they had a leather clad biker look and were more of a punk band than friendly pop your grandma can listen to. Google their hamburg days.. fights with the crowd, fights with each other, sleeping on stage. The Hamburg days is where its at with the Beatles. They were the template for modern music.. before them it was all folk, skiffle and black jazz groups... and Elvis, who was the template for the rock star.

A lot of the recording methods that The Beatles used were actually invented by The Beach Boys if I remember correctly.

I'm a big George Harrison fan, not a big fan of The Beatles other than Help! and the 87 Revolver. A few good White Album songs too.

That's hardly specific. You mean someone like Paul McCartney developed a recording device that we still use today? So he invented the microphone and computer? What do you mean, exactly. I want to read it from one of the fans, not the Wikipedia page.

What do you mean by 'modern music'? I see nothing from what you mentioned in today's big artists. Experimentation was not okay at one point? Do you really believe there would have been no experimentation without the Beatles?
