The beauty of the Blades Armor

Post » Thu Aug 16, 2012 12:01 pm

True, but I still don't feel quite like a "ninja" or samuri when I use it. If I'm going to use a particular style of weapon, I want to be able to acquire the moves and finese that would be associated with that particular weapon.

That would be hell for the animation team, you do realize that.

Well if they had some light or medium, then maybe. I have a bad taste for the so called glorious "Blades" now though. Arngier was right. They started out being bad in ancient times and "Only" until they got their butts kicked did they see the light of day. Now that Alduin is dead and we have all eternity, they have reverted back to their bad ways and ideas of conquest. No better than any other dictatorial faction. I'm no longer welcome in their presence? Who do they think they are? Only good thing I have from them is the Akaviri Katana. Not even their so called Dragonsword is worth my time. So unless they come around to see proper reason and remember what they are really about, then no! They can have their armor. Won't stop a freezing shout will it?

You do realize that they already have some complex moves with regards to dual weilding, right? So, they can do it. it wouldn't take longer than any of the other moves they have animated.

I tried to play in Daedric or Dragonborn Armor but it simply didn't "fit" . I didn't have this problem in MW, nor in Oblivion but I have in Skyrim.

Blades Armor + Fur Hoods (mod) = IMBA

what you are suggesting is a different animation for EVERY weapon. (if they have to do it for the katana, they have to do it for all the other weapons as well, as it would be strange to single out that weapon)

while this could be done, and it would make the game a lot better, it is unrealistic

Yes, that is what I was suggesting and it could have been done if they had have done it from the get go. There's a lot of things that should have been done in production before release that Bethesda failed to do properly. Such as, adding mounted combat from day 1. Anyway, my point is, that if they can do an animation of the character spinning around while hacking and slashing without much trouble, then they could do other stuff to not make it seem so monotonous. Some of the armour types, for example, don't look right when executing certain moves. An example: My character wearing heavy armour shouldn't be able to move as easily while swinging a blade, mace, axe, or warhammer. They walk slower, but that's about it. Different armour types should be taken into consideration with the kind of weapons that are used as well.

Jesus [censored] christ, not only do you want different animations per weapon, but different animations for each weapon and armor combination. THAT is impossible. If there were 10 weapons, and 10 pieces of armor, that would be 100 different weapon animations. Would that satisfy you.

I love the Blades armor and usually grab it the very first time in the Temple, most of my characters have never went back. I do like Dragonsbane. One of these day's I'll do a play through to get the "Dragon Quests", but soon as they say Parthurnaax has to die.... thats the end for the Blades and my Dragonborn.

Sure, why not? It could be done. That's not really that bad. Next gen consoles will be able to take that without even a sweat. Beth is just lazy, that's all. LOL

It is indeed a beautiful piece of equipment, though I rarely use it. Doesn't fit most of my characters since I 1: rarely do the MQ and 2: I rarely side with the Blades in anything, leaving them to rot the moment I can avoid them(not that I have anything against them, I just prefer to talk to Paarthurnax and the Greybeards).

next gen consoles....meaning if they had implimented that, it would have been on pc only AND some ppl with pc's would be S.O.L. also cause their's just gets the job done as it is... Yep they should have put stuff in the game that would have meant not haveing alot of customers.... smart thinking. Shear laziness on their part not to do that.

I don't have much to do with them either, but I like the armor enough to get it and then just RP the falling out that we have. which we do.

I dig the Blades armor too. It's an interesting melange of roman and japanese styles (lamellar and lorica segmentata to be exact)

That's what I like about it as well, Beth did a pretty good job at finding a common ground between the two different armor styles. It not only looks rather "Knightly" but if you add the Nightingale hood it takes a very sinister turn, you look like a rouge Samurai / Dark knight.

I hope to god your just joking. You try coming up with SEVERAL DIFFERENT ANIMATIONS FOR EVERY CONCEIVABLE WEAPON AND ARMOR COMBINATION. This isn't a matter of laziness, nor is it a matter of weather next generation consoles could handle it (this generation could, actually) It's just that it would take much much longer than five years to come up with that many animations.

Not to mention the cutting of other features to fit it in

I do. I come up with all kinds of animations for my characters within a single story. I model, texture, and animate for a living and in my spare time. It doesn't take too long to make the animation if you know what you are doing. ONce you have the roughed out movements, it's just a matter of refining the movement to be fluid. I'm not trying to be a d i c k here, I'm just saying, it would be great if they had implimented this.

Blades armor is great. I'm pretty sure (given the armor ratings) that the developers intended this, but using the Blade's chestpiece/cuirass and steel plate hands/feet/helm looks fantastic (it's one of the few heavy armor combinations that looks good).

I think the amount of katanas and other asian inspired weapons and armor is enough. I do not want more, to be honest, because it doesn't fit for Skyrim and it's people

The Altmer, and especially the Akavir; have strong influences from the Japanese Dynasty culture, their are many remnants of the Akavir in Skyrim and the Altmer are already there so in my opinion; there isn't enough Asian-inspired content in the game.
