The Bethesda Podcast: Now Seeking Your QuestionsStoriesEtc

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 10:48 am

I have become a fan of Bethesda over the past 8- 10 years, but wasn't really in to gaming or anything like that before I saw Morrowind for the first time on Xbox. I am a huge 'lore' fan of the Elder Scrolls and am trying to unlock my 'inner-nerd' for the rest of what Bethesda does. I work in Freeland, MD and live in York, PA. Could I come down for a tour of the studio someday? It would be awesome to see the inner workings of this 'real-world' fantasy realm. I saw a tour on YouTube the other day and noticed the Ravenloft logo behind a toy in one staffer's desk. Awesome. I'd appreciate the opportunity to see what it's like in the inner sanctum.

Will Kajiits have claws?

Are we going to see any Northern Lights?

Is it possible to adjuste the height in the body customization? If yes, how much?

Exacly, how many voices will there be?

Is there kids in the game? And can we play as one?

Texture of the snow. Tell me more.

Not a question, more of a general sort of request : can you some time, among all the other info we get, give us something about the plot of Skyrim ? Understand me, I absolutely don't want spoilers, nor would you of course give them. But can you carefully mislaid, can you give playful vague hints that would drive us nuts with crazy Lore speculation ? :P

is JRR tolkien a very big influence on your game worlds/lore?

not just art style, but the way that he crafted his world and races so uniquely?
is that something that you value at gamesas?

ill be honest when i say that your rendition of LOTR in oblivion diddnt really do the series justice.

Nick and I are looking to chat with Pete Hines (Senior VP of Marketing and PR) tomorrow for an upcoming podcast.

Feel free to share any questions you might have for him. Keep in mind he's in marketing, so now's not the time to ask gameplay specific questions (that'll come later).

I don't know whether it's appropriate, but I am rather interested about the Skyrim PR campaign : there's been threads and posts discussing it. For instance, new info now appears in European magazines : some said it makes it hard to gather it all and have solid info not going through translation ; other argue each region gets its own exclusive this way, and that it allows for a steady stream of info.

Basically, if it can be done, a few words about decisions made, why they were made, what they kept from the Oblivion campaign, what they changed, what errors they try not to repeat, etc. What I found most intriguing in the GI Skyrim coverage was "Sound" and "Art of Skyrim" : why not also talk about a bit about the marketing of a game ? :)

From Pete Hines tweet, it seems that you will not be discussing any Skyrim gameplay questions.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "gameplay-specific"?

In other words, no Skyrim questions at all?

A question for Pete: What does he think of live action trailers, and is there a chance we might see one for Skyrim?

Also, considering the success of recent Beth games, does that mean less pressure on the marketing aspect? I mean, any TES game is going to get a lot of buys off of reputation and word of mouth alone, whereas with a new IP, the whole game can depend on the marketing.

Cheers guys.

Will there be anything (Perks, Weapons, Armor) you get with the game if you pre-order it? My friend was wondering this, so he told me to ask you guys. Thanks.

Skyrim has been announced for awhile now, and the countdowns are underway, any chance we'll see a Steam deal on the older Elder Scrolls games as we get closer to the release? (Morrowind GOTY + Oblivion GOTY = 75% off? :))

I noticed in the xbox 360 version of the game brink the lag on free play was pretty severe on the coop mode it appears to run fine, is there anyway in the near future for this to be fixed so the lag spikes will be reduced and a smooth and better gaming experience could be provided?

Why is it that no-one at Bethesda comprehends that people noticed that the AI in Oblivion wasn't very impressive?

Reading articles where Beth developers are still acting like they fooled anyone.
