The Dawnguard Are Evil! : V

The Dawnguard are so evil. I had a creeping feeling they would be like the fanatical and hypocritical Vigilantes of Stendarr who seek to kill werewolves and vampires because they see them as evil.

"Walk in the light, or we will drag you to it."-Subjugate others to follow their religion? Evil. At least Harkon banishes you from the castle. The Dawnguard on the other hand are very bad, have you see their torture chamber? The room which holds irons and burning sticks and macabre tools of torture surrounded by blood? They kill and torture vampires out of hatred for the unnatural.

Vampires kill people for the sake of food. If they feed, the sun is staved off. Apex predators kill only what they need to survive.

All part of good storytelling. Nothing is ever wholly good, and nothing is ever wholly evil. Can make a good and bad case for both sides. Of course if I was a side of beef strapped to a table for a vampire to feed on, I would consider them evil, and if I was a vampire strapped to a torture device Id find the Dawnguard evil. Matter of perspective.

Neither side is evil. The Dawnguard are zealots and the Volkahir patriarch is also a zealot to a totally different ideology. The logical thing is to side with the mother.

Indeed.... It's odd how they all seem insane while the only sane one is an extremist jerk? Although atleast he grows as a character though.

I've never seen them do anything bad. They kill rabid atronachs, vampires, and investigate potentially dangerous Daedric areas. For example Molag Bals lair.

Would you call our police service evil for forcing people to obey the law?

Vampirism is considered evil due to the immoral ways they live their lives, the sadistic torturing of humans and keeping them as slaves, necromancy and the fact they were created by a daedric god who is generally regarded as 'evil'.

You do have to question the motives for some of the dawnguard, but their actions are noble.

Because I find it amusing how vampires are labeled evil because they kill and feed on people when the Dawnguard are the ultimate heroes because they torture blood-svcking creatures.

Well considering alot of Daedric cults practice sacrificial rituals, or do horrible things to people.

Boethia cult, Molag Bal cult, Namira cult, Mehrunes Dagon cult, etc.

I can see why the Vigilant would feel the need to get involved.

According to the article, Dawnguard centers on an ancient group of vampires led by someone called Harkon, who wants to use the power of an Elder Scroll to blot out the sun.

The Dawnguard are Attempting to Save the World from a Vampiric Appocolypse. It may Sound Fishy to some... though vampires have always had an aluring Supernatural apeal.

Dawnguard as Evil? Not If you like sunshine... Don't like sunshine? Then Vampires are not evil.
