The Deathlords in Skuldafn Are [censored]s

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:21 am

Am I the only player here who thinks about Summons/Followers = Bait?

Nope. At least on the summons part. My previous characters relied heavily on Sanguine Rose, and my current (who does not associate with Daedra or involve herself in drinking contests, so no Rose) spams Draugrs with atronochs when she needs some room to breathe. I try not to use non-essential followers that way, though. I feel bad when they die. Especially since it's usually my friendly ranged fire or wayward spell that kills them.

Atronaches are Daedra so she is associating with Daedra by summoning them. Just saying.

My Breton is a Master Conjurer now and has survived because she summons help. She has to be careful with that though because there are some, like Morokei, who use the Command Daedra spell and that turns your own summoned Daedra back on you so you kick your own butt. I don't remember if that happens in Skuldafn but I'm trying to prepare as if it does. My sneaky conjurer will get through somehow though. :tes:

Yes, but she justifies that by not having had to agree to anything or do anything except buy the spellbook from Farengar. (Although in my opinion, Farengar comes off as shadier than most Daedra.) It's a compromise. :)

Hmmm... hopefully it's not a gateway drug where she starts out with a simple spell and then down the road finds herself strung out, dehydrated, shaking and standing over a dead priest in Markarth...

OH yeah... All Dragon Priests does that! I was wondering why one of my Dremoras was attacking me one day....

What if you also get the "Force without effort" power from Paarthunax, that might be able to stop falling over from the shout.

Yes it does occur in Skuldafn. I forgot about that dragon priest ability and had my own storm atronach chasing me down!

I use followers, Janessa or Arenea, for ranged attach support - staves and bows. Skuldafn has very few places that are open enough for that kind of attack, so I left Janessa at the entrance.

According to UESP it's 25% reduced, so it's certainly helpful.

"Fus Ro Dah" will make you 'fly' no matter what.... This is only helpful against the Draugrs using "Fus Ro". Only way to be immune to "Fus Ro Dah" is 100% Resist Magic or something like that.

Only deathlord archers and death overlords can properly fus ro dah you to the ground, normal melee deathlords cannot send you flying with their version of fus ro dah.

Deathlord archers are always a threat, even with 667 armor rating and 500 health, two deathlord archers would kill you in 2 double hits (2 from each).

Especially deadly as they can floor you with shouts, you are left helpless as they pummel you with arrows.

Oh.. Clear "Forelhost" at level 81.. You get like 6-7 Deathlords in one area, trust me... And the fact that Forelhost is prolly the only tomb in Skyrim that can spawn TWO Dragon Priests at high level.

once you come back outside and start to make your up the stairs towards the portal to sovengarde where the dragon priest is you can go to the edge on the right side (facing the portal, back to the stairs) through the opening and around the corner and for some reason they can't follow you back there. you can then engage them one at a time (while dodging dragon priest attacks) until they are all gone, then you can have some one on one time withnahkriin before jumping into the portal. also the storm call shout helps alot with the deathlords at this point. and yes if you conjure anything the dragon priest will turn it back on you and it can follow you around the corner and screw your plans. i just come out the door and run straight up there and it seems the easiest way to do it

Hmm. I always handle them one at a time at a distance. Full sneak with 3X bow damage and high-legendary glass bow with destruction-perked elemental damage (usually fire). Daedric arrows, of course. I have yet to get mobbed there. It's such a large open area, you can always keep away and snipe. Then take on the dragon priest all by himself. I play on Adept. I can't say how this approach would work (or not) on Master. I've tried Expert, and I can still 2-shot just about anything in the game.

The OP is in Skuldafn. It's the 2nd to last location in the MQ.

Doh - mixing up my places. But in which case Unrelenting Force should cause very little stagger to the player.

False. This is true for "Fus" and "Fus Ro" but a full "Fus Ro Dah" will always knock the player off their feet.

I love using mayhem and watching all those draugr deathlords shout at each other. That spell reduces enemy populations by at least half.

They actually use Disarm on each other a lot when you do that.

I can only say that in over five hundred hours, I've only been knocked over twice. And most of my characters end up at least level 45, so I am getting high level draugr.

I LOVE Deathlords!!!

I love slamming their heads with my shield as their heads go back to shout.

i also love them roasting over a fire with just a little marinade for flavour.

I have found that a character that has a large Stamina pool does not get ragdolled as often as a character with 100 Stamina. Meditating on Fus, and a bit of Magic Absorbtion or Resistance also causes a noticable reduction in Ragdolling.

I just did Skuldafn again last night and tried it as a sneaky mage. It worked great...they never saw me or heard me. I had Sneak at 100, no perks, Boots of Muffle, the Invisibility spell with Quiet Casting and an Amulet of Peerless Sneaking. I conjured the Dremora Lord and we were able to handle everything at the Temple. This was on Expert at Level 55. The first time I went there on Adept and it was more difficult because they could see me. Try some Sneak skills and Illusion and you can control when and where to fight. :tes:
