The dumb Nords are now better conversationalists than the Im

Nords are heavily inspired by real-life vikings. Those people were well renowned to be very good merchants and travellers.

I don't know if it's the same for Nords, but that inspiration could explain the speech bonus.

it is, in the lore nords are one of the more industrious races on trade and exploration.

Yes, but you know which race is the BEST at trade?... Imperials, so if anyone should have gotten a speech bonus, it should have been them.

As an Imperial, I am very happy with the changes made to racial bonus. They actually fit my Spell Sword build perfectly, so I'm not going to complain.

Yes indeed. If it makes sense for Nords to have a speech bonus, Imperials could at least have a greater speech bonus.

What? Would you like to have a conversation with a big life loving Nord, or some douch who wants to take you land and govern your country?

But seriously Imperials are probably the best tacticians which is what they are known for. And aren't Nords and Imperials very closely related?

Yeah Nord of all races should not get a bonus in any form of social activity; but since we're in their country I guess it makes sense.

All the excuses are nonsense. There was always a disposition bonus for like races, if you're a Nord, Nords will like you better. If you're a Kahjit, Kahjits will like you better. Since Skyrim is mostly populated by Nords (TES games generally have the native race make up 50% of the pop, the other 50% evenly divided) they will automatically do better on average, at least within their own race.

Nords don't need a bonus to Speech, just because we're in Skyrim.

Imperials Speech skills come from centuries of being scholars and diplomats, having oratory and rhetoric drilled into them specifically as students and generally as a culture. Doesn't matter if they are talking to other Imperials, Nords, or a rock.

Unless of course racial bonuses like that no longer exist, but that's just another problem.

Why would Imperials have a speech bonus? This is Skyrim and they're in the middle of a civil war against the Empire. The local Nords probably don't like Imperials that much.

Because they are better speakers!!1111! It doesn't matter if there's a civil war on...give Imperials a -10 disposition rating with Nords, don't take away their ability to speak with EVERYBODY.

That's the whole point of being a good speaker. You could be a pile of rotting ooze, but you start talking to and charming all the people who are disgusted with you, and you convince them that you're not such a bad pile of ooze after all.

Ever heard the term "silver tongued devil?" People aren't charmed by him because he's stealing their gold and their daughters, they're charmed because he does all that with a smile and wit.

^^^^^^

I would say Khajiits alone have stayed true. Altmer...not so much. Only the skills. Not racials.
Bretons have also stayed true... they just recieved a nerf to their Inherent Magicka resistance (Then again, people complained that Breton 50% Magic Resist was OP)
They still have an affinity for Spellcasting.

Redguard also remain true to their original concept, still being the best Fighters in Tamriel.
I'm not seeing a loss to Dunmer, except for the lack of a weapon skill bonus.
Orcs are also still Lore-Friendly, being the Heavy-armored master smiths of lore.
Altmer are still the Overall best spellcasters, they've just manned up a bit more over the 200 years.
Bosmer look lore-friendly with their abilities, given the rugged nature of their culture.
Argonians did get an irritating nerf... Immunity to poison was awesome.
Nords remain the go-to Barbarian race, as questionable as the Speechcraft bonus is.
The only race I see to have gotten really screwed over is Imperials.

Redguard also remain true to their original concept, still being the best Fighters in Tamriel. The problem is not their prowess. It is their affinity for magic. Two magic skills!

I'm not seeing a loss to Dunmer, except for the lack of a weapon skill bonus. Which is one of the things the whole race was respected for. Balanced integration og magic and sword.

Orcs are also still Lore-Friendly, being the Heavy-armored master smiths of lore. Fairly true. Though the little magicka they had left from being mer(their resistance to it) has apparently been taken away, making them less mer and more beast imo.

Altmer are still the Overall best spellcasters, they've just manned up a bit more over the 200 years. They were the best spellcasters because they were in tune with magic. Coincidentally that also made them take more damage from it. Like having a really sharp sense of smell. You can smell things better but if a smell you don't like comes your way...

Bosmer look lore-friendly with their abilities, given the rugged nature of their culture. Except they never had a poison resistance before...odd and random. Nothing in the lore to suggest this.

Argonians did get an irritating nerf... Immunity to poison was awesome. That should have just been reduced.

Nords remain the go-to Barbarian race, as questionable as the Speechcraft bonus is. They no longer are proficient with Heavy armor it seems. It is like the Imperials and Nords swapped skillsets somewhat.

The only race I see to have gotten really screwed over is Imperials. Agreed.
