The kindest thing you have done this year?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 4:58 pm

I regularly give indigent people money, clothes and food in return for them doing the odd job around my house. I don't believe in charity.

Donated a pathetically small amount to a charity.
Donated a pathetically small amount to a not for profit website.
Gave a homeless man £1 who then started to scream "GOD BLESS ENGLAND", he was polish or something.
Unfortunately the bad things I have done probably outweighs the good.

another random act of drunken kindness: was in town one night maybe 10 years ago and a homeless guy asks me for a dollar. i had no change so i gave him a $100 bill and half a pack of cigarettes

Never really felt obligated to help people outside of my immediate family and they've been just fine this year.

Took in what i thought was a bedraggled, stray dog, whom i found running along the very busy road outside my cottage.
Gave him some water and dog food, then called the local Vets to enquire if they knew anyone who had lost their black and white collie. Turns out it was one of the neighbouring farm dogs who has quite obviously had enough of sheep work and decides to goof off and come visit my garden, sending my own 3 dogs into a frenzy.

The little beggar comes visiting most days now..

It's just February, so nothing special. Returned someone's wallet to the police a few weeks back.
In the past 365 days the kindest thing I did.. Late February 2010 we were going on a military exercise in the other side of the country, and when we were there my friend noticed that he had forgotten to bring his spoon-fork and mess kit. I decided to give him mine, and I starved that week content with the two chocolate bars I'd brought and whatever small slices of bread we were given.

That sounds nice of you, certainly. Your friend doesn't impress me as a very good friend, though. :whistling:

He didn't ask for them, and every time he saw me during that exercise he thanked me for it and offered the things back. "Keep them", I said, "I am simulating the stresses of real war".
After the exercise was over he was so insistent on repaying that I finally agreed to let him buy me a pizza at the canteen.

I haven't really done anything kind per say. I really need to start giving my old clothes to charity though.

Stopped a school bully that was bulling at least 5 people.

EDIT: Violence was the only situation that would have worked in that situation. I'm still getting respect from that fight and it was a month ago,

THAT was YOU?!?

You're on my list. That'll teach you for thwarting my plans to take all those kids' lunch monies.

The nicest thing I've done? Nothing. I don't do anything nice.

I opened a door to allow a beautiful girl to walk through. And I don't do nice things for beautiful women. So I guess that was the nicest thing.

That's all right then.

All i can remember is going to get a soda at a gas station and waiting behind a lady in line.

The clerk assumed we were together and rung both are purchases together. When I went up to pay, he admitted his mistake and I could have just walked off not paying anything but I stopped the woman and gave her what I "owed".

Meh, all I can think of right now.

No one will pay that much for parents. They're too old. Hard to train them, and the vet bills will be tremendous.

Probably break up with my girlfriend so (among other reasons) she could get better, mentally.

I gave my big sister my 2002 Mazda Protege when I got a new car last spring. She's in kind of a tight spot for money and her old hoopty died on her. She thanks me every time I see her now and tells me how much she loves it.

..haven't done anything 'good' this year yet.

But sometime in november last year, I paid for a couple's full tank of gas. Don't know why I did it. Guy came in the store all worried about running out of fuel(they werent from my city) and his wife was hungry. So I offered.

Everyone at work made a big deal about it.
