Nope, you're not the only one. There's quite a bit that has me depressed as of late, and games are one of the things, but not the "major" factor. With Aliens: Colonial Marines, I put a lot of faith, hope, and desire into the game. Pre-ordered at the last second after I put some thought into it because I wanted to pre-load it so I could play with my friend. That's a good $60 I won't see back and I've almost sworn off gaming. There are days where my desktop will be powered on, but it sits idle as I do nothing with it.
It was just in the recent days of this past week I loaded up Fallout: New Vegas to scratch my FO itch. Once that is done and over with, I won't turn my computer on for some time.
The industry just svcked my passion dry as they go for eye candy, guns galore, etc..., with no heart or soul to the game itself. Borderlands 2 is another example where it started off decent, but things just went down hill. That "dynamic" weapon system wasn't so dynamic for me as I found it rather easy to get capped weapons. Won't put the $10 up for that Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack 2 expansion.
Final thing I will say is that it's the rehashed characters, tweaking them for "face value" that annoys me. That Devil May Cry reboot is the prime example where it disgusts me to no end. Dante doesn't have his unique style and puts himself in the front as some emo child with turrets syndrome. Whatever, I'm just obsolete. Heck, I'm a person who likes to spend several days on hardcoe quests to earn items in MMOs, yet that's not good enough for the casual gamer who needs to earn their 100% legendary uber epic gear within 30min because any longer than that is boring.
Think the last game I have a shred of hope for is Fallout 4. If Bethesda doesn't deliver, I'm tempted to burn/shred my gamer card and turn in my hat.
