The slow time shout is terrible

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 12:40 am

It slows everything else more than it does you, even for the first word only used I can still tell i'm a bit faster than everything else.
Think and take notice before you start ranting on the forums :|

I have no idea who Max Pane is. Furthermore, I have no clue what the last part references.

You're pretty clueless, aren't you? :D

He was putting "Matrix" as an example, because of it's famous "slow-time-and-dodge-bullets" scene. And Max Payne because it's also a famous game where bullet time is heavily used.

I get the Matrix thing. I have seen those. I just do not associate that image with Skyrim. As I stated in a previous post. The only Max Pane I am aware of is the movie that Marky Mark, or who ever it was, stared in. I did not see the film. And the last part about "ragey cagey" must be some kiddy gesture.

Again, I do not invision the "Matrix" when I think about Skyrim or any of it's features. If that is considered to be clueless, then I will be very happy to remain in that state...thank you.

I was disappointed when it slowed me down as well. As short of a shout it is, I went in think of a slow spell with radius effect. Woulda been much nicer if they had u going reg speed during it but I guess that would cancel out most use of the sprint. Well it works well enough I guess, just didnt like it. Pretty much elemental fury does the same thing for melee users.

Many people haven't played the max Payne games and therefore know nothing about it other than being maybe close to Splinter Cell or something like that. He's not clueless at all

Max Payne is pretty big..
Been going for years and a 3rd on the way, plus a movie was made. But fair enough everyone plays different games.

How does it compare compare with elemental fury? I imagine the dps boost would be lower with slow time.

Not sure if it's been answered in this thread, but I find it better than Elemental Fury. For one thing, it works well with magic, enchanted weapons and your fists, so everyone can use it effectively. Other than that, you're more in control with Slow Time--using all three words can get you around the battlefield and on the offensive impossibly fast, but fully controlled, so not only are your enemies relatively defensive, the slow response time for your own actions means you can be extremely precise.

My mage has just recently started using the shout almost exclusively (and I have at least one word from every shout unlocked, many of them fully unlocked [including Slow Time], so I have many options). Let me put it this way: Fireball travels relatively fast, and the explosion lasts less than a second. With Slow Time, not only can I travel faster than the Fireball spell myself, but I can dish out so many at once that the first explosion hasn't even fully ignited by the time the rest get there. The DPS is amazing, better than anything I could otherwise do.

I dare say this is the single most powerful shout in the game next to Storm Call and Call Dragon if you can utilize it well.

I just got it and used it. What's the point of it? It basically slows everything around me down including me. I thought it would slow everything down and let me move fast.
Yeah... you kinda need all 3 words. No shouts are very good at level 3.

At level 3 you move full speed and just zip around murdering everyone before they can so much as react. Then it dies off and everybody falls over dead. It's pretty awesome.

Google is your friend. Plus, if he doesn't associate both slow time effects in Matrix (and Max Payne) and Skyrim....well... :glare:

Yeah, type "Max Payne" (or even "Max Pane") into Google, and you'll get more info than you'll ever need on the games and the concept of bullet time. Hell, type "bullet time" into Google, the universal cure for cluelessness.

I love the Slow Time shout. It does slow the world down more than you. But even if it didn't, it would still be very useful, since it would be the same as speeding up your reflexes and general thinking.

The one-syllable version is pretty useless, but even at two syllables I was using it during Imperial-vs-Stormcloak fort raids and nailing multiple Stormcloaks with arrows in close-quarters combat. At full force it's pretty awesome - porcupine a strong opponent's head with half-a-dozen arrows while they're making a single sword swing, or mow down a whole group of normal foes.
