The slow time shout is terrible

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 12:17 am

I just got it and used it. What's the point of it? It basically slows everything around me down including me. I thought it would slow everything down and let me move fast.

It lets you move faster than enemies. When you have learnt all three words it is pretty good.

Slows time for everyone else more than for you. It can be quite useful.

I still haven't found a use for it. The fact that it slows your character down as well is a major, major flaw.

The point of "bullet time" is that everything may be slowed down, but your mind has not, so you are effectively thinking faster and able to react faster to whats going on.

It is actually very useful.

How does it compare compare with elemental fury? I imagine the dps boost would be lower with slow time.

I like it once I have at least 2 of the words. I don't much just like the first version though.

elemental fury with dual wield speed plus accoding perks annihilates anything i used when it comes to fast damage, save for sneak attacks

I tried to use it to get through a door that was opened by a pull-chain. When the door closed another opened. I still couldn't make it through. I couldn't move fast enough before the door shut. Maybe if one has all the words unlocked, it will work better.

The matrix slow motion type effect.

As i said before, its benefit is you are thinking faster then things are happening, so its easier to dodge, as well as ensure your strikes land on target, so you dont waste that power attack.

That is my favorite set up. Using those together turns your DW character into a freakin' Cuisinart. Too bad it doesn't work with enchanted weapons.

I see. I understand what you are saying, and I agree. However I can't visualize the Matrix and Skyrim. Or I don't think of one while focusing on the other.

I thought the thing was bugged the first time I got it.
The ONLY thing it's good for since it slows both you and the enemy down is it makes timing a bit easier to avoid power attacks and the like.
But it doesn't last long enough to even be very great at that.

When I shout all three words of the Slow Time shout, I can easily kill ancient dragons before they can even move with just fireball spam. In my opinion it's probably one of the best shouts in the game. It's especially useful for mages and I would think also marksmen because it makes it alot easier to aim and gives you time to swap spells and think about where to move for mages.

I have no idea who Max Pane is. Furthermore, I have no clue what the last part references.

I like using Slow Time in conjunction with other shouts (though it requires using the Fortify Restoration glitch for free shouts). If you Slowt Time and then use Unrelenting Force, you send them flying and you try to kill them before they hit the ground. Good times.

When you say Fortify Restoration glitch, what do you mean exactly? I'm not familiar with that particular strategy, do you mean using a Fortify Restoration potion to boost an Amulet of Talos?

Thanks for the tip with Unrelenting Force and Slow Time, that sounds very fun! ^_^

Fortify Restoration potions boost enchantments. So if you use it in conjunction with alchemy enchantments you can build super powerful fortify restoration potions. Drink a high powered one and then equip the Amulet of Talos and it will reduce the shout time to zero.

Yeap! That's what I thought, thanks for confirming, I hadn't thought of using it with an Amulet of Talos before! Thank you so much for the tip!!! ^_^

I came across a really powerful dragon priest with lightning attacks, everytime I moved from behind these rocks it'd get me and kill me. The slow time shout helped my run across the bridge and defeat it, it's a good shout against powerful enemies with spells.
