Is there any kind of scientific reasoning as to why cats beh

Have you seen a cat getting trappen in plastic bag?

Are you sure you don't mean magnetic fields? Hammerheads hunt by detect the magnetic fields of prey hiding beneath the sand.

Anwyay, those are just simple animals trying to get rid of something stuck on them. The poor things don't have thumbs :hehe:

Yes! Steampunk was right also, I was talking about magnetic fields, since I am not an expert in this "field" I got it wrong! and the you're right thumbs would be very useful here!

I suspect it doesn't really have the cognitive understanding to know it's not a predator on it's head? So it tries to get away from it by backing up.

Cats differ though. If you put that on my cats head he's happily walk around with it on all day. He doesn't give a [censored].. but then he's a purebred and doesn't have a high sense of self perservation...
It clearly knows it isn't a predator though. Or else it would be far more hostile. Fight or flight, we seen it trying to run. If it asusmed it was a predator it couldn't run from it would likely hiss and try and scratch it off or fight. What we seen was a reaction. Like someone throws something at you and you duck. Not to mention cats hair is more sensitive, so all of a sudden you have this sticky crap stuck to it that you cant get off. Not to mention I think they use their fur as a proximity alarm type thing. So if something is about to grab them in a hostile way it triggers the hair first and then they run ect. So thats essentially the warning system going off here I think. Or not even something trying to grab them, but an obstacle they have to clear.

Also dogs are pretty damn smart, people have shown that they can read our faces similar to how we do. This is why they can be soo damn good at catching us trying to hide a toy or food on them. Left gaze bias is the proper term.

I think it's pretty obvious.

A cat is not used to being stuck with something. So it feels the object and trys to back away from it.

Since the object is above it's head time moves it's head down. Since it is in front of the cat, the cat tries to back away from it.

Haha oh my god thats hilarious.
But anyways, probably just annoying. Sorta like having gum stuck in your hair, that might be the way the cat feels.

And if you're looking for science, you might want to consider the works of Dr. Erwin Schrodinger who is famous for cat experiments.

He killed a lot of them, too.

Or did he?

I make too many Schrodinger's Cat jokes. I need to start thinking outside the box.

Animals do stupid things because they are stupid. THAT is a scientific fact for you.

Animals don't do stupid things and they're not stupid, the word stupid is reserved for humans, that's a fact. They can do things which we think are stupid but the word can only be used to directly explain our species...

Because it has an annoying piece of paper taped to its head and is probably confused. Is there any kind of scientific reasoning why people do dumb things like tape paper to a cat?

I hope the next question he asks himself is if it will work on bigger cats as well, like lions for example.
I'm willing to fund his trip to Africa.. For Science!

He could pitch the idea to Animal Planet and get himself a show.

Yeah, that's why cats rule the world and keep humans as pets.

That video imo amount to abuse of that animal. It is causing unnecessary stress to the cat especially the 2nd one.

The literal meaning of the word stupid cannot be used to describe any species other than humans. Animals do things which we consider to be stupid in comparison but the boundaries of the literal meaning of the word are clear and are only used in relation to us.

All of those things could easily apply to an animal. Do not argue with science.

why do cats feel like they being crushed if theres an object on their head ?

my cat would just tilt her head slightly until it fell off. then at some point later in the day i would shriek bloody murder at my cat and she would pull her ears back and leap at me to play.

Tis' a waste of time arguing this point you obviously refuse to see it but I know for a fact that in literal terms the word cannot be used to describe animals. Of course you can still use it and I am sure you will but facts are facts and the meanings of words are so often misused.

Can't animals also be dull and foolish? You could make an argument that "stupid" should be reserved for the animals that are dull by the species's typical standards, but you can hardly argue that all cats are equally intelligent.

That then begs the question of whether this cat in particular really is "stupid" by cat standards. I believe we need a larger test sample!

And I just happen to have two cats of my own.
