Is there anyway to escape Helgen still bound?

I heard someone mention it a while back...

And even if you did, there's no other way to unbind your wrists. Or are you trying to play a gimped character?

Googled Skyrim escape Helgen bound, and this is the first thing that popped up:

I just confirmed that it still works, just press start and place your cursor on the "Unbound" quest. Then press the "show on map" button. Click to fast travel to Helgen, and enjoy! Btw, you can't do anything but walk around, so it doesn't look like it'd be that fun.

I suppose it'd be interesting, playing a character whose hands are eternally bound, and all he can do is run about the world trying his damndest to survive. By running. Of course, if that were the case, I wouldn't see the incentive to go out and do anything. I'd just sit in the bar and have a sultry maiden pour mead down my throat all evening.

How would you even get into the bar? You'd be forced to run around outside of cities, casting the almighty Your Hands are Bound spell!

Hope someone is kind enough to open the door? :P That, or bash your head into the door until you get it open. Or get a concussion. Which would be almost like getting blasted at the bar, so... win-win?

Well, i'm giving this playstyle a shot, gonna see if I can't find a random quest that a random person might force onto me! Maybe if I can find a quest that auto equips a weapon to me... It'll be no cities, or anything that involves doors, or using my menus(besides maps/pausing). I've made a cool looking Bosmer named Dufresne, even tho I can't look at him at all. I'll update if I find anything interesting!

Lol, now that would definitely be something. Running about with hands bound shouting foes to death. Let us know how that goes, McDeadly. :P

I guess you could use the console commands to give yourself shouts.

Assuming you could escape Helgen with your hands bound, you actually probably could beat the main quest without your hands. Just run to riverwood and get Sven. After you used his help to get through Bleak Falls Barrow and getting the first dragon shout, you could theoretically beat the game by a combination of follower assistance and dragon shouts.

That might work...I think it's hilarious.

While this has been interesting, I haven't found any way to make this a viable playthrough yet. I've traveled a fair distance in every direction, met many hostile/friendly NPCs, and I even picked up the 'Join the Imperials' quest from a passerby. The biggest problem (besides dying) is that I keep getting stuck in an invisible wall just outside of non-instanced settlements. I'm then forced to auto-run in place until I go mad or load a previous save. I did, however, manage to gain level 2 by sneaking around some hostile guards west of Helgen. Of course, that doesn't do me much good without access to my perks haha. I'll still see if I can't find a quest that will force a weapon on me, maybe I can still go kill things. I also need to see if I can enter caves, though it won't do me much good once i'm inside...

Me too. I just left Helgen with a male Imperial named Suxto Beme. He went around and entered the exit of the cave and leveled up to 2 from sneaking around the bear. Now headed to Riverwood.

If characters in Skyrim could Judo kick you'd be ok while still bound.

And for a split second after fast travelling out of Helgen, you can see the front gates are still open. They close pretty fast, though, and I didn't try to get back in.
