See, you're still just arguing semantics. It has nothing to do with whether or not I take offense. The positive and negative aspects are about the source of the derived happiness, not about feelings on either side. Even suffering as I put it isn't accurate, maybe it would be better to say "at the expense of others". Forgot positive and negative, you're just arguing semantics when you bring those up. You can use whatever terms you like, as long as we both know what we're talking about.
I would define mockery of all forms as quote unquote "negative", even if both parties find it funny.
But what as you define all forms of mockery to be "negative", that doesn't make it so, and just because you hold that thinking, doesn't make anyone who doesn't agree with you, any less wrong or righter than you. It's all simply subjective. You found the comment to be negative, while he found it to be positive. Others found it negative too probably, just like others found it to be positive.
And I never said everything had to be divided neatly into the two categories. Slavery, for example, is multidimensional. There's the labor aspect, and there's the racism aspect. The aspects fit into different categories. Perhaps you can enlighten me on how insulting a television show fits both categories.
It's the same as when I described the child being slapped or spanked by their parents, which wasn't the same as when I was talking about slavery. At one time, slapping and spanking a kid was okay, while now it's not so much anymore. At one point, making fun of "My Little Pony" was pointless to ridicule because it was strictly an age attentive show, attaining most viewers at the age of 10 and below. But now that it's moved on to some teenagers and what not, so their peers belittle them a bit because it's funny to see teenagers and whatnot watching a little girl's show, and as there is with everything, two sides to the coin argue and debate it out on which side is right or wrong.
I also disagree with you on "internet fad, soon to fade away" for various reasons, but that's a discussion for the MLP thread specifically I think. You can bring it there if you'd like.
It will, trust me, they always do. One minute it's "Arrow to the Knee" jokes that take center stage, next it's "My Little Pony". It's only ever an amount of time. There's no point in discussing or debating it, because past fads have show this to be true, and you can bet that plenty of people who followed the previous internet fads, didn't think they'd die out in popularity either. A good example being the Jersey Shore.
