This can't be accurate, how stupid do you have to be to think that eggs come from plants?
Quite obvious that they polled people under the influence after they watched a cartoon...that featured plants that had http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFCBjrQFVH0&feature=player_detailpage#t=74s

I wonder how many people they asked before they found one dumb enough to scapegoat the generation.

I'm surprised and satisfied.

Finally, a story that shows the stupidity of someone other than Americans.

Ignorance, not stupidity. In both cases.

 I'm a bit skeptical about these kinds of reports tough, it feels like they set it up to create a sensationalist headline.

due to some people I know IRL, I'm not the least bit skeptical about the depths of human stupidity or ignorance.

I thought it was people?

I didn't grow up on a farm, but I grew up surrounded by them on a ~64 acre block (unless I'm misremembering the number ). I also grew up vegetarian :P.

Oh well that's pretty awful. Pig Iron http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=cmIjisnTpYk#t=347s are notoriously overworked. They really need to get a union put together.

Tis certainly unfortunate. I hear Heavy metal workers are becoming increasingly hardcoe in their work ethics though. Maybe the pig iron guys will pick up on their vibe?

I thought bacon was a gift from the gods? They place it on store shelves for their disciples to enjoy. Duh.

I've interacted with other human beings before. As such, I wouldn't find it at all surprising if this is true.

I remember watching some tv show that had some 20 somethings not even know what hamburger was..

I recall being confused by that as a kid: "why is it called a hamburger when it's made of beef?" Fortunately everyone calls them beefburgers.

I did eat a hamburger that was actually made of ham. It wasn't very nice.

I heard it was because they were invented in the German city called Hamburg, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I didn't really know its etymology as a kid, though. Well I don't know it now either, but I certainly didn't know it then!

Stupidity is global

Bacon comes from outer space, true story. That's the only reason it tastes so good.

What, the danish does something besides making beer and sausages?

OT:

What the hell. I saw a similiar report about american children as well though, so I wouldn't say "Only in the UK" yet... Anyway these kinds of reports are usually kind of dodgy and must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Anyways,

Metro is not exactly the most reliable paper, but there definitely are indications that (inner) city kids in the western world (and I imagine in other (post-) industrial societies too) have little to no idea where their food comes from. If your parents or carers never take you to the countryside, and you mostly watch children's cartoons, chances are that you're not going to pick up on the fact that what you're having for dinner was once a happy little porker.

You know, there comes a part in every parents life (at least it should), where you have to tell your kids that they are eating cute little animals. It's wrong not to inform your kids about what they are having in their everyday diet.
