This is buggier than New Vegas...

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 1:52 am

I've encountered so many disgusting and immersion breaking bugs and glitches that I'm half tempted to trade it in.

I've had a lot of patience with bethesda games, but they've pushed their luck too far. They can't continue being a bunch of apes when it comes to coding. There should be some kind of customer protection service that stops bugs like this all the time. Its unacceptable.

Do you have specific bugs to report or is this just a general rant?

For example?... You can't just say the game is full of bugs and not say what sort of bugs...

The only bug I encountered so far was a graphic glitch outside Whiterun. One of the walls kept flashing in and out between two seperate textures. Then the whole thing stopped and the graphics around the town looked beyond crap. When I came back after a quest, it looked normal again.

Apart from some minor-major graphic flaws, no game-breaking bugs for me yet.

Then, by all means, trade the damn game in. If these bugs are such a huge [censored] problem for you that you need to rant about it on the forms, THEN JUST SKIP OUT ON THIS WHOLE GAME. LET THE BUGS RUIN IT FOR YOU! No, seriously, just forget about this game. Its obviously not worth it.

Sorry if I sound a little cranky, but I heard enough of these petty complaints when NV came out. It angers me when people let some texture problems and a few crashes ruin an entire game for them.

Ok, I'm going to list all bugs and glitches I've encountered so far, in my 5 hours playing time today.

Possibly spoilerific, but I'll keep it as spoiler friendly as possible...

Jarl of whiterun is "busy", so I can't talk to him. Ever. Waiting/revisiting doesn't do anything. Main quest is completely impossible now.

Companions guild master is "busy", can't join the companions

Golden claw quest: can't loot the golden claw off the guy after you cut him out of the webs. His body just isn't lootable. Reloading does not work

Stuck in various geometry.

NPCs don't speak or make any noise.

There's a whole bunch more minor stuff, but I've already restarted the game.

Now I can join the companions quests, and I've got to "proving Honour quest", and now theres a scripting bug where the quest just won't progress.

This is so bad. I don;t know if I'm super unlucky, but it really svcks.

no. its a hell of a lot worse than crashing and bad textures.

This is pure scripting errors.

I only had two problems. Crash to desktop when starting it up fixed by restart of machine and laggy intro. That's it.
I don't get where you say it is buggy.

unfortunately pc got the short end of the stick this time. i had oblivion for pc and xbox and i liked it alot better on xbox. skyrim is amazing on the xbox. although there is an issue with installing it to the hard drive. apparently the engine utilizes the cache and when installing the disc, the textures don't fully load. so i uninstalled it and it runs alot better. the load times arent bad at all. i think its faster than oblivion to be honest. every bethesda game has some bugs. but new vegas you can credit obsidian for that pre patch crashing failure. obsidian is aight but their games are REALLY buggy. So far I havent run into any horrible bugs. just one guy stuck in a wall, but a simple reload fixed that right up. this is still an epic master piece that mustve taken alot of hardwork and effort. best TES game to date, besides daggerfall of course...haha

at least your game works. Just save often and crashing to desktop isn't a problem.

I can't play the game. I just can't. everywhere, there's scripting bugs.

Only issue I've had so far is I just fell through the floor and watched as the dungeon I was in got farther and farther above me. At least the game popped me back up rather than kill me. Funny thing, it put me right at the exit door I was working my way to, leaving my companion were I fell through to try to get to me, having to battle wolves and vampires the whole way. I got back to her just in time to see here fall, then they jumped and killed me.

That's with 8, maybe 9 hours of play so far.

I seem to be really lucky with Bethesda titles. (TES/Fallouts) I get a few minor issues but never too many game breakers.

In the cave where you retrieve the golden claw, I got stuck between two hanging animals and a load of firewood (lame I know.) Had to reload. Nothing I could do to get out. Also, a mammoth off in the distance glitched and was going up and down really fast.
My husband said he seen a character walk into a post and stay there. That's it for now

Only bug I have run into in over 12+ hours of playing is the UI bug where you remap functions but the UI still shows the old keybinds -> the new keybinds all function the UI just shows the incorrect keys.

Other then that I get a constant 100+ FPS and am so far really enjoying a pure mage build and for the first time not being forced to take alchemy just to be a mage as the past games was a requirement to survival.

Gerdur won't move the main quest along. Main quest is over before it started for me. Guess I'll make a 3rd character and hope it works this time.. Obviously I haven't been able to get very far yet, but if this ends up like New Vegas then it will be traded in just as quick as that game was.

Someone stuffed up making the cave you should of spawned further into the cave but they either didn't set the right spawn point or didn't make one, also I know the right term isn't spawn point but that's the only word I can think of to describe it. The bug should be fixable once they release the glorious creation kit...when they release it...

The Gothic 3 expansion, Forsaken Gods or something... I hear that was remarkably buggy.

I've had two bugs. Both were trivial and a simple reload fixed it.

1. When I first got to the College of Magic I was following somebody into a door that brings up a load screen. I accidentally clicked on the person I was following as they were going through the door. She disappeared but the door wouldn't open for me. Reloaded the autosave and everything was fine.

2. I was in a Dwemer Ruin (Part of the Mage questline with a certain staff) and I was walking up a ramp and I fell down on the left side in which there was a small crevice. Unfortunately no matter how much I tried to jump I was stuck and had to reload.

Other than those two bugs it's been a smooth game.

It dumbfounds me how big games such as Skyrim will inevitably have bugs on its release, yet people still buy them on release day and complain about it.

I've had...no bugs. I've played probably like 15 hours. No bugs, no crashes, no errors of any kind. The single odd thing that happened was when I got smashed by a giant, I bounced off the ground(dead) and flew like 400 feet in the air. Aside from that, it's been great.
