never went back to the game forums for anything other than visits.
I prefer to think of them as a safari.

The Skyrim section, you know that one that usually has escaped creatures lurking over into this section?

"Alrigh, men, you know what we all came here to do! That's right, we're going to bag ourselves a troll. Be careful now, they travel in packs, picking on unsuspecting victems like a flock of buzzards. Now, to catch one we have to wait around on unsuspecting newb until he does something foolish like repost something that's alreafy been said about 300 times before, after that they will be on him about it in no time, swarming him like a school of Piranhas. Don't worry, you can spot the trolls from the similar, yet different, cynics by the speach patterns such as 'u suk we've already talked a bout this 500 tames!1' compared to 'Okay, we should really talk about something else, I think. This questio has popped up so many times now that I've lost track.' Alright, boys, lets go get us a prize worthy of hanging above my toilet!"

I spend a lot of valuable game time here, though I'm quite sure many agree that I should stay away.

They've also been clawing their way into the Fallout section.

It's not an absolute place of grace, BUT it is a far cry better than the Bioware Forums. That place is full of some of the rudest nut cases on the planet. If you are not an elite programming wizard or a walking EA gaming encyclopedia you are lower than whale dung.

At least this place has some form of nice, and I mean some.

Let me tell you a little story about the Bioware fora. As BG 1 came out, my sister and I went looking for a forum. Yes, there WAS a Bioware site, with several fora - a tech support one, a RP one, etc. We landed on the tech support one since at that time we both built our own machines etc. In fact, I was playing BG 1 on a "not min-spec" machine, and it was running really well (which NO ONE believed, but I invited them all to my house so they could watch, and that effectively shut them up even though no one - not even the guy literally down the street and around the corner from me - dropped by to check....)

About those fora: Bioware had NO CLUE how to write forum software, and in their inifinte lack of intellect, refused to use some of the decent commercial products. So whenever someone got PO'd at BW for something, they'd crash the fora. Over and over and over - ad infinitum ad nauseam. Also, there were NO MODS. And no support personnel from BW. So really objectionable stuff NEVER got cleaned up (and there was a LOT of that....)

That was pretty much the beginning of the end with me and BW games. I played the first couple of BGs and the first NWN (oh, and for a cesspool of a forum, the NWN one was the killer.... MY GODDESS it was awful - all those aohell nwn groupies.... and again, no moderation....)

So the fact that they're not moderating the current forum is NO surprise to me.

I don't play games anymore. My computer broke and now I use a linux-box. So no games for me. :(

But the forum is still alright. CD has been a little slow lately, but ehh, it'll pick up sooner or later.

Yep.

I rarely go to the Skyrim general discussion anymore. Only time I do is if someone has a question or something needs reported. That place is sure something else now.

I like CD and the Lore forum (TES), and the PC forum for Skyrim. Being on the forums just helps me kill time during a tough time

I generally divide my time between CD and the Fallout section. It is starting to get abused by kids fresh from Skyrim, but the dinosaurs attempt to keep everyone in line.
