Is this game going to kill TES lore?

Honestly, I'd be fine with it if they didn't actually try to justify it. We've only ever seen Cathay-raht in recent games, I believe. Or Suthay. Either way, since Morrowind, only one breed has been used, if memory serves. If they didn't want to include multiple Khajiit subtypes, they didn't actually have to explain those away as aberrations, they could just not show them. I mean, I think most people who would care can also understand the divide between game engine/mechanics and the 'reality' of the world being presented. But instead we get this strange and meaningless contradiction.
The thing is that they often DO try to explain away what many of us lorumites deem the more interesting parts of the lore. The Altmeri archtitecture and culture in the PGE1 sounds amazing. TESO is making them roughshod typical fantasy elves. The same applies here. They said that Suthay-Raht were the most common breed of Khajiit. It would be better if they didn't gloss over the more interesting parts of the lore because they cannot manage to represent it. Either through incompetence or more likely time and budget restraints.

Yar, I'm aware of those. I'm just wondering WHY they have to explain things like the omnipresence of the Suthay-Raht, rather than just let it be understood (as it always has been before now) that other Khajiit species exist, in numbers just as great, but aren't being shown right now/yet. It's not beyond the grasp of most people, I think, to separate the mechanical and technical limitations from the actual lore - we've certainly always acknowledged the other Khajiit subspecies before now even though we haven't seen them, we could easily continue to do that.

The ultimate ideal solution would be to include all the Khajiit subspecies, but if not that, then you needn't invent lore explanations for why they aren't present. Those who know they exist can easily understand why they aren't shown - those who don't know won't care anyway.

Ya, if there are no walking trees in Valenwood I hope they just shut up about it and don't offer an explanation.

Edit:

@Pangascar

Its not just about having books in the game. Its about quality. The quality of those books and the story over all. Is it truly interesting fiction? Is it thought provoking? Or is it just something tacked on to make quests around.

"Butcher" is probably a more accurate verb than "kill". The lore will still be there, but it won't be the Elder Scrolls lore we're familiar with.

There actually is a good reasoning there based on BGS's lore. During the Oblivion Crisis the trees took root to stabilize themselves. One could make the assumption that when the trees sense danger from Oblivion they take root. Whether this is to attempt to stabilize Nirn in the Wheel or not though is loosely based on the idea that the walking cities are Treesap. One of The Mundite Towers.

I will just pretend that TESO happens in the dream of a homeless Nord boy dying of cold and starvation.

Worst case scenario the entire plot, and everything that happens in ESO, is a hallucination and perversion by Molag Bal who is dedicated to corrupting every precious memory your PC has. This is why your soul was stolen. You never escaped the moment your soul was stolen and have been under Molag Bal's machination ever since.

We can always use that if it gets really bad lore wise. I don't think we are near there yet but the direction so far isn't exactly THAT promising.
