The game will follow the same route as SWTOR did.
The route of SWTOR was hilarious indeed.
Phase 1
-Info is shown "This game is going to kill WoW zomg!"
Phase 2
-Gameplay is shown and idiots fooled by the choreographed animations are like "Look how much different it is then WoW much better zomg!"
Phase 3
-Trinity system confirmed "Who cares if it's like WoW, it will still be better zomg!"
Phase 4
-Game comes out and is a mess "Who cares if it's not as polished as WoW! WoW's had years to get all the features it has! Give SWTOR moar time zomg!"
So it went from guaranteed earth shattering game of greatness to "it's not fair to compare the game to WoW, of course WoW is better it's been out for a long time!".
Looks like we are on phase 1. Oh and graphics won't improve 10 fold due to early development (lol 5 years and counting already). Hero Engine, get used to disappointment.
You missed a few phases, though:
Phase 1.5
- It's not going to be a sandbox? This is going to svck! Why couldn't they make this game like SWG?
Phase 1.6
-Why do all the ships look like they came out of the original trilogy? WTF?
Phase 2.5
- Why are the jedi holding pringles cans, and why does this game look like WoW? WTF?
Phase 2.6
-Okay, so despite the fact that it's over a thousand years before the movies(sound familiar?), everything is exactly the same as in the movies? WTF?
Phase 2.7
-So space combat is going to be a rail shooter? Why couldn't they make this like Jump to Lightspeed(in SWG)? WTF?
Phase 3.5
-If I hear the word "iconic" used in a sentence one more time, I'm going to punch someone in the face. This game is starting to sound like SWG(the bad version)
Phase 3.6
-Well crafting certainly svcks. Why couldn't they do it like SWG?
Phase 4
-Okay, so the color of lightsaber you can use is determined by how nice you are? I thought Lucas said these weren't mood rings? WTF?
There were early warning signs that SWTOR was not going to be that great, but a lot of people(myself included) ignored them because Star Wars. I don't intend to make the same mistake this time around. If ES:O can prove that it is a TES game instead of a watered down cash grab, so be it. I won't be svckered into spending $60 before then. And the early forecast is not favorable.
