This guy found out what Hearthfire is about #2

Post » Sun Aug 19, 2012 2:07 pm

That doesn't always work. Sometimes no matter how many items you set items, leave, then set them again, they'll always move and the original items will keep going back to their places.
I blame the housecarls, take them to some remote dungeon, sneak around and let the powerful enemies slaughter them. i suggest one with chaurus as they absolutely massacred lydia for me.
also for the thread, im a 360 user and a dlc based on housebuilding, while cool, is just meh unless it has a lot more to it. i might shell out a couple bucks for it. but i still hope it's a small piece of the cake (which at this point seems like a lie), or is another free patch content.

Ok so you want ot spend money to get something like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18480 and a hundred other player homes you can find on skynex?

Without the shadow of a doubt.
As a PS3 user, mods are out of the question - at least for another couple of years, when I'll need to buy a new PC and Skyrim won't be as demanding on it.

Also, Bethesda's content will likely be far better than the mod. They'll be able to implement new textures and such with more ease than modders, add voice actors for added immersion and generally produce a more polished product than a mod. This isn't a post against modders, its a fact.

Do we need two threads about this?

And.

Good for him?

Lol, we're going to have 12 threads about this I bet.

Personally I'm underwhelmed, unless they really push the concept to its limit. If you could say, have multiple "presets" that are basically like Oblivion homes for instance, and the possibility to add multiple voice NPCs to serve as guards, butlers, trainers, merchants, assassins, that kind of thing? Maybe a couple quests tied to it too, and such? Then yeah.. I guess then it would be unique enough.

More than likely...
Anyways...it'd be unique but completely unnecessary.

We don't need a second thread. I don't believe it. And if it's true, fail on bethesda's part.

If they want PC users to buy it, then Id argue its quite necessary. Needs to go above and beyond fan-made content.

I doubt it'd be strictly for PC users. I don't think they'd care about what people create, if they did then I don't think they'd have bothered giving them the Creation Kit and stuff like that.

I would rather have the home be a part of a large dlc or at least one the size of dawnguard. Not just a house, but I wont frown at it if its true, especially if they really flesh it out.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but what if the DLC (if the rumor is to be believed) is something akin to Raven Rock. You build a home, maybe a small commmunity around it, defend it from occasional raids, pay for upgrades, locate key people, etc. THAT I could see being a full DLC. If not, perhaps it will be an update BEFORE Hearthfire. Whatever tyhe case maybe, I hope the feature makes it into the game.

Stop and consider all the things that -could- be associated with hearth and home, assuming there is any accuracy to the rumor. Adoption. Starting out with a small place, then adding on to it.

But also keep in mind that Hearthfire is =winter=. What could they throw at us that would make things interesting, hmmmmmm.........?

What do you mean by "Hearthfire is =winter=."?

Then you have the magic theory: since the month is related to that conjuration book.
Conjuration=Summoning or Summoning day. Following the summoning day thing it'd be about Nocturnal since Hearthfire is her summoning month. There are tons of things you could make reference to by jumping off of one point.

Hearthfire would be the more of an equivalent to fall since it represents September (I think it was september).

Yes, Hearthfire is equivalent to our September. Which means my birthday is in Hearthfire. That's it; Hearthfire will be about conjuring me, and revealing me to be the Godhead. And then I use magic to build everyone houses. Look everyone, I'm the Prophet now!

Wasnt there a book in skyrim, that was a part of the 2090 or whatever series, that was called Heartfire? If i remember there was an attempted assasination, a dunmer running away with a child to the witches, and a whole bunch of orcs killed along the way...

Maybe it has something to do with teh witches(which focus on summoning)?

Oh... That was a conjuration book? I have a habit of reading the books without paying attention to the covers. My bad.

There's the 2920 series of books, which details the year 1E2920. Each book is a different month, including Hearthfire.

You have to use your magic drums, flutes and lyres to make houses.

And then, from the fortress I shall build up for the player, the Dwemer will return from out of time, and fight the Thalmor.

A bit more on topic; if this is building a house, customising it, then building a village around it, then I'd love it. If it's only a pre-made house, like those Oblivion DLCs, well, I guess that's okay, too.

Please use the already open thread and refrain from platform/console flamefest and flamebait while there. Thank you. :)
