This will flob, just like "Tortanic".

What the hell were they thinking? Are you out of your F**** MIND? Because this WILL flop and it WILL flop badly, we won't have a true ES MMO anytime soon. You can't just say this is the excecutives's fault. Did no others employee in Besthesda ever think of pointing out for those egghead that a WoW clones are destined to fail? Seriously, Besthesda, you've been making ES for years. Yeah I know Zenimax something something makes it but they probably have to report to Besthesda. How come Besthesda just decides to throw away every things that made up the ES series just to make a WoW clone? Do game publisher nowaday love to throw their money down the drain? I thought everyones love money.

The only way it could be good in my eyes is if they took about 10 years to make it, and it was EXACTLY the style of other ES games but with multiplayer. I don't want multiplayer at all, but thats the only way I see that it can be good. Bethesda takes about 3-5 years to make one province, full of quests, caves, dungeons, npcs, everything. And Zenimax makes every province in what, 3 years?

ToR has 1.7million subs and sold like 2.5million copies.....

I hate that game, but its making them serious cash...it is the opposite of a "Flop" and "TorTanic".

I share your fears.
I really hope this game will be as good as THE ELDER SCROLLS deserves.
But i have fear. I am terrified. I would have prefered that Bethesda itself developed the game :/
Well... there's always hope...

Oh no, you don't need to be clairvoyant to predict this game is going to flop.

do you really think The Elder Scrolls Online is going to succeed where even The Old Republic couldn't? And we ARE comparing Star Wars to The Elder Scrolls here. the latter of which being considered nothing more than an ant when compared to the former.

Me and my girlfriend quit after 2 months. Just couldn't stomach the MMO gameplay. I felt like a clone trooper no matter what class I played. The single player smoke and mirrors was nice, but that soon faded.

The correct reply should be "It has not yet flop"
But yea it will, they all will.

Still early days. I bought the game too, but quit after the first month. Bioware may have stated that sub numbers aren't falling, but the stats are there to prove they're lying and using figures from the first month. Just check out the population curves on http://www.torstatus.net/

All the greatest fiktion universes could't do it. Lord of The Rings, Star Wars Old Republik, Dungeons & Dragons MMO. All of them were only popular for a year, after that they lost subscribers through the weeks.

What makes people so sure that TESO will succeed?

Uhh..okay. Several MMOs are currently making tons of profit, including ToR.

WoW isn't the only one, believe it or not. I expect GW2 to do amazingly well, if it does, ESO will likely also do amazingly well since its the most close to GW2.

Replace SWTOR with Age of Conan or Warhammer Online and your list makes sense. SWTOR hasn't been out for a year yet.

But to add weight to your argument, the only big title MMO that has bled subscribers faster than SWTOR is All Points Bulletin :P
At this rate SWTOR will be free to play in 6 months to try and claw back some subs.

I thought he did make the trailer music... sounds like TES main theme, can anyone else mess with his sounds, or is the music score he created property of Zenimax?

People said this , then the company officially announced they still have 1.7 million subs.

Tortanic is a internet myth.

As I said, they're using the first month's sub numbers for that statistic. http://www.torstatus.net/ Out of all of the US servers, every single one of them, only three have higher population labels than 'Light'. All of the others are listed as 'Light'. Only one of them gets close to 'Very Heavy', and one of them barely surpasses 'Standard'.

I played in that first month. I know the pain of waiting in queues because half the servers were full up. So if that 1.7 million really is still paying, they sure as hell aren't playing.

I don't know how well this game will do, but I sure hope it does well. I'd hate to see such a great company that has provided us all with so many good games suffer and be afraid to offer innovative titles in the future.

I'm excited for it, and I'll sure do my part to make sure it doesn't "flob."

Why do people think that an MMO flopped unless it beats WoW in subscriptions or sales? MMOs always start with more subscriptions than they keep over time. People like to try new stuff, some throw it into the corner right away, others get hooked for life. It's the same with single player games, but there are just no numbers for that, so it stays under the radar. Hell, the average playtime for Skyrim is 85 hours. 85! That's ridiculously low for a TES game.

Innovative? Where did that come from? I hope it fails so they realize that gamers WANT innovation, and not yet another MMO based on WoW's mechanics.

Regardless of how good it is when it comes out, i dont think most people will be happy as the above is what they are/were expecting. Something as detailed as Skyrim but just with multiplayer stuck on. Gotta be compromises somewhere, they can not just spend extra time and make every province as detailed as the SP TES games, or id have to think Bethesda would be trying it. Theres the time factor alone, nevermind performance/lag etc with that amount of detail.
