Unmentioned Easter Eggs?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:35 pm

:gun: So in Wellsprings, if you go to the Marshals office, back in the back on the shelf by the prison cell is a translucent box, and inside of it is a grill. Like the rappers have in they moufs. Dig? And in Subway Town the hookah looking device Siri is smoking out of has the Demon logo from the first DOOM on it. Anyone else noticed anything else weird or cool like this?

In Dead City there's a Bistro called "Mama Dona" - obvious reference to Miss Donna, the ID mom.

The Doom room has "e1m1" scratched on the left of the door frame.

Lots of references to Mixom throughout various locations, who - as we all know - are the company who accidentally delivered chainsaws instead of jackhammers to a certain Mars base.

The caves leading to the old distillery have "GLO-REE-UHH" and a picture of a flower scratched into a rock - no idea what that refers to, but is obviously a personal message from an artist.

I also noticed on some of the cliff faces what appears to be an octopus? Any clue what this is about?

That translucent box with a grill in sheriffs office is a Breaking Bad reference. Noticed it immediately :P

Also Crazy Joe is wearing DOOM 3 shirt.

Ghost Hideout - the ambiance feels allot like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre; yep the '73 version.
Dead City Central-box of Pinkies behind BG Burgers complete with a Pinky growl when you pick them up.
DC Streets, the slimy cocoons resemble Levels For Doom cover.
DC Streets, at the escalators there looks to be a character similar to Mario painted on the wall; probably hinting at the id room coming up and the old school history of id doing a complete Mario brothers revisit before going into FPS.

Just found another one in..
Dead City Central, a poster advertising 50% less LOL, on Rage 2 and Doom 5.

Doom Mug at the information center at St. Vita Hospital

I think I found a reference to M.U.L.E. it's kinda hard to read on the header of a doorway near the subway entrance. It would be cool if it was I was friends with Chris Bunten who was the son of Bill and the nephew of Dan....damn, that was along time ago.

What do you mean "let the rocket launcher go idle." I've stood there holding the damn thing for 15 minutes and nothing happened. I then hit zoom to bring out the targeting screen and held it there and again nothing. Please explain what you did.

It does take quite a long time but it is true. All of the weapons go into the same animation as when you first pick them up after they've been idle for a certain amount of time (and it's something like 10/15/20 minutes) but the rocket launcher does play Doom footage. You don't need to do anything yourself, just leave it idle.

I just spotted "U Poo" on a sewer hatch. :)

No one has said anything about the Quake buttons in the Wasted Garage?
I have only found 2, I'v pressed the buttons, heard a quake1 sound, but nothing revealed yet. I'm thinking there's a 3rd one.
I really want to get in that door to a room on the first level of the garage, I'm thinking the quake buttons must activate that.

But I'm not sure as I haven't found a 3rd button yet, if this is even the case?
~ this door has no lock to blow and would be empty space if there's no other way to get in there.
~ it must have to do with those durn Quake buttons! heh

In the Dead City there's a green highway sign with Antkow Stadium, reference to one of id's level designers, Christian (xian) Antkow (and a Canadian).

Spotted this lot in - I think - the Gearhead Vault. It's an old screenshot so I can't remember the exact location.

In the map where you go for the blueshine, there's a secret room with the Rage dev's names scrawled on the walls.
