The "Thousand Words":

I picked up the Briars Heart from the Forsworn at Sundered Towers before the quest. Now I can't complete the quest. Tried clearing it out again, taking it then doesn't help. Briars Hearts are now unavailable for alchemy as well, can't drop them either. I can eat them though.

When I come across another Brairs Heart now that I've eaten all of them out of my inventory, I'll check if I can use them for potions again.

They need to make that specific Briars Heart a miscellaneous item, not an ingredient... and they need to fix the breaking of a lot of quest due to order issues it seems.

Yeah for that quest you need to throw all your briar hearts first, then do the quest, then pick them up again or you will run into that issue. Quite silly really.

I avoided the problem only by chance because I was fed up with alchemy and threw away all ingredients before that quest.

Madesi's 'shopping list' quest has no quest indicator to point you back to Madesi once you've collected the stuff he wanted.(Madesi is located in Riften market)

During the Stormcloak quests where you have to kill a certain number of Imperials in Forts, when the counter goes to about 12% the game starts lagging quite badly until it hits 0% + about 2 minutes of killing last stragglers.

Yeah, but that's not the only issue. Notice that the quest line has "Take a Foresworn Heart" before I speak to Navale.

...I did eat all the Briarsheart I had, even then taking the new one off the corpse doesn't work.

ALSO: The respawned foresworn with the heart also respawns the Red Eagle's Fury, which I've already finished the quest to. If I took it again, it would be a quest item stuck in my inventory. [tested.

Could we have some quality controls applied to the bug list please? There are several vague reports, and many things listed that aren't bugs (feature requests are not bugs!) A huge list that's a mash up will make it harder for Bethesda to fix things.

I picked this list up from Azzer. The impression I got as he stepped away from it was that he wanted folks who were making suggestions like yours to pick up the thread and organize it themselves. Nobody did so before I simply copied it into a new thread, and so far nobody has stated the intention to do so. It's as easy as taking the initiative and doing it yourself.

I've already gotten it into my head to review the list and use a new organization scheme that gives higher priority to the bigger issues. I'm not sure how much time I can/want to spend on this, so a full clean up and organization of every item may have to wait.

Something I've experienced. If you have 2 of the same weapons and you upgrade both of them, you can no longer dual wield them. It only lets me wield one when I press the hotkey.

When completing Civil War story quests, the maps in various locations marking blue/red flags for who holds what are not updated properly. Some of them don't update at all, some update incorrectly and those that update correctly still have both Imperial AND Stormcloak flags on the same spot on the map as opposed to removing one flag and replacing it.

nightingale blade's top level not upgradeable

Aerin following Mjoll into your house if you are married (he should get a nice bounty for trespassing lol)

elemental fury stucking on your weapon sometimes

not every hold gives named weapon for thane (bug or not?)

npc's changeing level with you (ie go outside) if they stand too close to door/talk to you while you transit (ie use the door)

bugged favourites menu

door of vault in thieves guild (flagon cistern) was opened before it was supposed to be in the quest line

539 bugs now listed. (If I reorganize I may stop keeping count, since some are balance issues, feature requests, multiple problems with the same quests, etc).

As the patch is released, I'd appreciate anyone confirming that a listed bug has been fixed. I know there's a new bug with resistances in the patch, but I won't list it until it's confirmed to be in the PC version.

Edit: Make that 538. Duplicate sneaked in there

This one on your list is not a bug:

* Even having a resistance of 100%+ to effects (eg shock) - you can still be killed by lightning/shock attacks (likewise with other elements).

It is intended that the max is 85% resistance

Also, for the lag during fort assaults, I don't think it is related to corpses piling up as much as it is due to the many AI routines being run for pathfinding. For example I ran off during a fort assault due to a dragon nearby and had 1 fps even though I was a large distance away from the fort.

Give me a few days. I can probably sort it out if I can find time between work and Skyrim. :P

Ugh. Just discovered an annoying bug in Raldbthar. When the ruin respawns, the gears at the end become stuck again. The bones are not replaced, however, so the gears cannot be unstuck. This makes it impossible to lower the bridge and proceed to unlock the Blackreach entrance. There are other entrances to Blackreach, but this one is not viable if you clear Raldbthar beforehand.

Just notices a bug. When looking at my naked lady, the Amulet of Julianos looks totally different equipped and in the inventory :) Funny...

And even more funny is, when you just take a bucket, put it on a merchants head, it doesn't bother them and they don't see you stealing...

"Speak to Greta about going to the Temple of Divines" can get stuck after convincing Greta.

Perhaps this occurs when you've already looted her brother's body for the Amulet of Talos? (as it has a slightly different dialogue sequence)

I'm in the process of reorganizing the whole list, sorting each item under new categories, listing in order of some vague semblance of priority, and combining a few.

In addition to reporting new bugs, you can help out by:

Mentioning new bugs in Patch 1.2 (so I don't have to go looking elsewhere for them)
Mentioning bugs that are fixed in Patch 1.2

When the reorganization is done, I'll edit the OP

Good luck, and thanks for taking the task on, I'd have been very sorry to see the thread die off just because I didn't have the time to keep a busy thread maintained/organised any longer.

(btw just regarding you mentioning miscounting the bugs before - all I was doing was copy-replacing the asterisk with a random character in a text editor with a mass search-replace, which told me how many replaces it did = number of bug entries, I just did that after every big edit to get the new number!).

That's almost exactly what I was doing. Only in Notepad++ (I recommend it), the 'Search' feature has a 'Count' button. Just enter the asterisk in the search field, and press Count. Instant bug count.

Holy F$#% the list has gotten bigger in just one day! Bethesda definetly needs to hire a team as big as the development team just to fix all the issues.

Barbas' AI Package, DA03BarbasFollowPlayer [PACK:0001C4EF], has him so close to the player that he'll push you into traps, into the line of sight of foes, while other actors are speaking to you, off a cliff or block your path, prevent you from getting to craft activators, etc.. He's driving me insane! He'd be a cool temporary companion if he'd back off and keep his distance. He behaves as though he's suppossed to be 0 distance from the player, so he'll nudge you, then compensate, nudge you again, compensate...

Also, walking over bones will often hurt the player, This also happened in the Fallouts.

Quote from OP "Many random crashes-to-desktop - these cause no error messages, it just throws you instantly back to desktop with no notice. There may be many causes of these, some listed elsewhere here, but the outcome is the same."

I got that today. This was the first time I got them continously. I restarted about 8-10 times. Always the same. Deleted my 18 level character because she was permanently broken now.

Location - going up to Azura's shrine for the star quest.

2 possible triggers - either the mountain slide or the blood dragon.

The blood dragon had killed her, the game reloaded and THEN I started getting the crash to desktops. At first it was after BOTH the landslide and the blood dragon, then after the landslide and sound of the blood dragon (no visual yet), than it started doing it after the landslide but before the blood dragon. The game was slowly eating itself in reverse.

Suspect it was caused by sounds.

Have all required game specs - 3 Ram (in between required and recommended) - Vista (fully updated) - i7 - 2.66GHz - NO MODS - No level exploits.

Just looking at this it supports what many have said, Hype Hype and no support or updates, no joking when u get further in the sound goes dead and the bugs get worse, this has NOT been tested on the various platforms, just wait till u are a vamp and try getting the cure, or even worse, try solving the Shalidors Literature in Sgragmors tomb, bugged to hell, most since patch, no reponse by Bethesda or steam, they just keep blaming each other, unless we get a quick fix will never buy a game by Bethesda (will change the name anyway to another Fail company) or any suporrted by steam.
