I, Dragonborn-Duke Sky I Shadowing, hereforthwith shelve my title of Duke of (New) Shadowvia. I intend to retire from the world, atop a mountain, build a monastery, and teach any who show the discipline to follow the Way of the Voice the Thu'um (once the Thu'um mod is enabled).

Clever names that are parodies of High Hrothgar are welcome for the monastery. It is to be considered strictly neutral and protected ground from ALL parties. Should a party wish for arbitration between another, I will be willing to provide it.

Okay, so I had an idea. We could advertise. There are numerous ways and places we could do this.

One way we could do this is a sheet we have to fill out. It could have questions about the best thing they've ever made (with screenshots), what made them decide to come to this server, what makes them made, etc. One flaw with this is that they could make themselves out to be angels and turn out to be bad.

Another way would be to have some sort of newbs' server where some experienced players play with the newer players to see if they are trustworthy, it doesn't have to be a paid or modded server, just a Hamachi server. The problem with this is that if we have multiple players it could be hard to tell who griefed, we could fix this by making it one new player for only a certain amount of time. This method could be used as a backup to the sign-up sheet.

Yet another way to control the player-base from expanding is to have the new players make a certain number of posts so they can be judged. Problem with this is that no one likes this and could pretend to be angels.

We could also make these threads only for discussion of Minecraft in general and NOT the server and move all server discussion to the official forums for this server, linked in the OP.

We are already being advertised on youtube via Mirglof and Vidicus, aka Blackhand4, has discussed making a series soon. The problem with youtube is that we have no way to control who watches the video and hunts these threads down and signs up. This way we have no way to control the flow of new players.

Another place to advertise is the official Minecraft forums. While they are not particularly known for their civilty, at least with them we have a way to say 'no, you can't join,' or 'yes, go ahead, sign up'. We could PM them a link to a place to sign up.

We could also make some sort of page on steam or facebook or something. However, like youtube, with this we would have no way to stop people from clicking a misplaced link or two.

Alternatively we could just keep doing what we're doing and not have any forms of advertisemant.

Back to Minecraft: I don't have access to your server yet, but I'm currently on another popular one. It took awhile to get past all of these abandoned, gigantic megastructures, but I finally found a part of the wilderness to call my own right now. Just built a house and things are going swell.

So, here's the situation. Block lag/respawn kept preventing me from retrieving everything I owned from the bottom of the lake below the Bridgeport farm. Break through, and the block respawns, trapping me under with no way out. I get frustrated easily when things like this happen for no sensible reason, so I start 'grrrrrrrr'ing IRL. I manage to finally retrieve my belongings when my mother enters my room, and sees someone else dropping an f-bomb in the chat. Naturally, she freaks out and tells my father (when she does this, she embellishes the details), and now my father is threatening to cut off net access.

That's...That's bad. I actually swear at the screen when it lags too much or I die because of it (Curse the snow) and my parents just tell me to shut or stop writing it on the screen - to which point I shout frig/feck/f..../ahhh/fudge!/oh my days and on the screen it just appears as FUUUUUUU . Just convince them it was a one time thing and you don't actually type that stuff out - replace [censored] etc with those I mentioned.
