I was looking at stuff for the dynmap, since it's so low res compared to others. I found https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki/HD-Map-Configuration and thought it might be useful for upgrading the Third World dynmap?

i'll look into that after we're done testing on the vps. i'll probably update the server to 1.5 too. ive been waiting on the essentials plugin but so far its only had a developers release. of which ive heard alot about bugs.

Trying to do some of the work right now. If it isn't all done today, then hopefully tomorrow, as I have a sleep study that will have me sitting in a room for 10 hours with only internet access to keep me busy.

Mirglof's server has been moved to the VPS.

They're still trying to figure out how and what happened, but it appears there was an inordinate number of hokers in attendance.

I'm not even sure what's going on, besides the mention of hokers.

Okay, look, I know we're trying out a new provider, but if you guys are going to try and get us to use a new IP, at least connect us to the right MAP. Seriously, I have no idea what the hell map this is, just some netherfort looking thing on the surface.

/latenightcrankiness

Edit: Nevermind- For some reason, it's the right map now.

Sounds like spawn on the vanilla map we mostly abandoned in favor of Mirg's map.

so far the vps is handling just as well as the dedicated, in some regards better actually. i tried gigabreaker with an efficiency shovel and was able to clear a large amount of dirt and sand with out any block lag. or that annoying lag where the server doesn't realize the blocks are gone yet and you get stuck in invisible blocks. at least in my experience so far.

Just a note: To anyone in need of a place to cook materials, I've built a forge at Winterhelm's smithery, and I've been working to place lava buckets in a chest in the smithery. These are free to use, all I ask is A. Please don't be selfish and hog all the lava, as I'm collecting it for everyone, not just you. And B. Please return the empty bucket to the chest, as making iron buckets nonstop will ultimately be expensive if I have to keep resupplying them.

Thank you.

I'll probably be back on playing next week, I've been going through Dawnguard as a vampire at the moment. I have some ideas for new towns and the like that will probably make use of the undeveloped land to the northwest.

Also what's the deal with the capital? I'd be willing to lend a hand with that, but I don't know what sort of architecture or functional buildings we're after.

Keep in mind that Vanilla and Bukkit tend not to be as resource-intensive as a Forge-modded server, and the real test for the Third World will be around 8-11 players on at the same time scattered across the map. Getting Ultimate running and stable with the general population will be the bigger challenge.

It's not even particularly stable for me if I'm the only person on the server (FTB this is), lost a macerator and enough coal to make a couple of industrial diamonds last night to a laggy creeper. My distance from the provider probably doesn't help.

i would like some help with it actually, i was hoping to get retro to build the walls, and i would also like a few other people to take a canton and build stuff on them. The only restrictions i would have would be that they cannot use the following materials as part of the exterior; any nether blocks (glow stone is acceptable), no marble, no sand or sandstone, no obsidian. its meant to be a large city so ideally each canton would have tall multi tiered structures. the center canton will be the royal palace, the 8 middle rind cantons will be composed of 4 residential cantons and 4 specialized cantons (For guilds or what ever) the outer rings will be mostly gardens, markets, and military structures. then beyond the cantons, on the coast of the inner ring of the bay, will be additional housing of low density variety. as well as additional services like blacksmiths, Inns and so on.

we had 7 people on at one point last night, we were all fairly scattered. me on my island, juice and soda on the mooshroom island, justin way up north. and im not sure where vidicus and his friend were. In addition to that i was doing stuff like spamming /back, ignited over 2 stacks worth of tnt (justin said there was a slight stutter at that point), made a giant sand pillar without it glitching me off.

my question is, are we planning to set up the ultimate and put it on the vps too to see how the server handles both? because that would be important to know and the next step in testing it i believe.

From what I've been able to discern, that is the plan after the website is migrated over to the VPS. Unless it is already happening, now would be the time to discuss specific details like any additional mods and the difficulty setting. For the 'non-testing' phase, of course.

I'm having second thoughts about wether the website should even be migrated over. The primary reason for the website was for heated discussions and donation tracking, neither of which we really have anymore. If anything, I'll likely look into using a different forum software, as there have been more compaints about the design than praise.

If there is enough people that want the website kept then I'll move it.

ive always been indifferent about the lay out, however i do think we were better off having the donation tracker track the monthly donation goal rather than yearly. Otherwise it seems much more daunting that it really was, especially for new people looking at the site who don't know right away that it was a yearly tracker.

one feature i do miss was being able to see whose on the team speak and servers.

also, we're keeping the team speak right? its proved useful on and off.

Speaking of Teamspeak, the server is a few versions behind.

So iChun was suffering from the level of boredom that spawned Trail Mix...

im not going to be available for HG tomorrow... well today, what ever. I have to work, so if athell is around you guys can pester him to host it if you want to play. It is easter, if that even matters to you guys, so i guess most people will be doing other things than being on the server?

Well I'll be on the server, the only thing I'm doing is having a roast, which is like eating that I do every day anyway.

We could always move it to a different day if you want to be on for it.

I'll be around but everyone will have to pester me on here though if anyone wants to play.

Indeed, it's probably worth making some changes when we move across.

For the love of all things holy can we please nerf creepers. Please. It's alright for those who are willing to live in the compound but I'm an anti-social git and it's a real pain.

Also is battletowers or whatever the additional structures mod is called really worth it?

the vanilla /mobgreifing command will work, but I think the server must have that set before anything major is done with it. I must admit, Bukkit has spoiled us all.

Ugly, all over the place, meh-level loot. I'd say we could do away with battletowers. Seems like nobody was even using the Ropes+ mod, and the Ruins has kinda grown on me. Might want to whittle away at what structures generate. Some of them tend to have... abnormal compositions.

One thing to note is that more mods are updating to 1.5.1, so we might have to start a new map even after setting stuff up in 1.4.7.
