What is Team Fortress 2?

Team Fortress 2 is a mainly multiplayer online first-person shooter with hat-based elements. It is mostly team based (Thus Team Fortress) and, thus, different from all the "lone wolf," "Kill everything you see" shooters that seem to dominate the market nowadays. Granted, killing things is fun, but if that's all you do you probably won't have much fun or win very often.
There are nine classes, three class types: Offense (Soldier, Scout, Pyro), Defense (Engineer, Demoman, Heavy), and Supportive (Sniper, Medic, Spy). Each class has a unique role and look, you will never confuse two classes.
There is a crafting and trading system (And hats), item drops, and an in-game, micro-transaction store that provides the game's revenue since it is now F2P.
Hit one of the people on our list up if you want to get started, I'm sure they'll be glad to help!

Several fun rounds as an engineer today, although I still haven't broken my "engie zone" problem. I am coordinating with fellow engineers now, but I still don't pay sufficient attention to the battlefield as a whole.

Also, I encountered a really weird problem today, and perhaps someone can explain. I kept having my teleporter exits blow up while I was upgrading them. They weren't being destroyed by the enemy, and I was twacking them with my wrench so it's not like I accidentally opened my PDA and blew them up. Several times a fellow engineer was upgrading them at the same time, is there some glitch were they pass level 3 and get destroyed?

It's happened to me before. It seems to happen most often when the teleporter is near a wall or object of some sort. It may be self-destructing, thinking itself out of the level or clipping into something.

Ah, they were all against a wall. I bet it's connected to the recent glitch where you can end up stuck to a wall.

Yes, it is doing it deliberately. It does it when placed somewhere the player may have a clipping issue. Some people used to put them under stairs/wherever, and when people came through they would all get stuck. It was Valves attempt to fix this.

"Damaged Capacitor" added in today's patch. How did it get damaged? Who damaged it? What is a capacitor? Better get your tickets ready, because the mystery train is leaving the station. Or did it already leave? Another mystery!

"6/22" is found written on the item itself, I expect SPUF will be abuzz.

Although http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/June_19,_2012_Patch are pretty mysterious, and they don't all seem robot-related.

I was building next to the door to an enemy spawn room (which they weren't using at the time). They open automatically for their team, but you can get trapped if your on the other team (or at least you could before).

None of them are rare. Save the Secret Diary, but it's starting to drop.

They could be Valve trolling for an upcoming update, or it could be the new economist screwing around. Anyway, they're all useless as it is. Except for tricking traders out of their items.

Anyway, I'd still like to collect them. I have the lint, the goldfish, and the barn door plank. Anybody have any spares?

So I was an engineer with a good spot at a bottleneck, getting lots of kills and just generally keeping them from using the front way into base. The other Engy had his sentry up watching the cart which was very close to the end. I guess he got bored or jelous of the fact that I was actually getting kills because he moved his base and set it up right next to mine.About three minutes later they pushed the cart into home and won.

Why don't people seem to understand that even if you aren't getting a lot of kills you're still helping the team via area denial? Seems like it would be obvious.

  • Fixed an exploit related to the listdeaths command
  • Updated the localization files
  • Updated bot navigation files for maps 2Fort, Gravel Pit and Dustbowl
  • Equipping the http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Eliminating_The_Impossible now shows new descriptions for the Goldfish, Pocket Lint, Cheese Wheel, Banana Peel, Barn Door Plank, Secret Diary, and Damaged Capacitor.

I guess it really does reduce mystery solving time by up to 88%," huh! I wonder if this means the Dual-Purpose Fruit set will one day actually reduce the chance of hunger by up to 13% :hehe:

I almost take pride in the lack of kills I get with my sentry. My record for teleports in one life? 52. My record for sentry kills? 8. Now there's certainly something to be said for the front line engineer who helps cap, but I'm quite happy setting up a nest no one wants to mess with while helping get everyone to the front lines.
