Unofficial "Will My PC Run Skyrim" Thread #53 w hard

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 12:42 am

Has anyone tried playing the game on a MacBook Air (late 2010, 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB, GeForce 320M 256MB)?

The graphics card is not on the list, but some website seem to say its more similar to a 310M than a 320M GT ...

Anyone tried yet?

Thanks,

Lars

I've got:

win 7 home premium 64bit
3,30 GHZ Intel Core i3-2120 CPU
4GB RAM
and an Intel HD Graphics Family graphics card.

I think almost everything is okay, but I am worried that the graphics card is seriously lacking, is this true?
I have an Nvidia GE Force 9300 (256MB) graphics card at home, but will that be enough?
Or should I simpy buy a better graphics card, and which card would you suggest (not too expensive, just to be able to play the game smoothly on low settings)?

We are already at the 200 limit, so the thread will soon be closed, and probably replaced (I hope Tig will compare the results at Toms Hardware to shuffle cards in the rankings). What is your budget and your default screen resolution?

Neither Intel (none) nor the 9300 will play the game properly. You need something such as AMD's HD 5570, and upward from there.

If this thread will be closed, I'll repost it in the replaced #54 ;).
My default screen resolution is 1440 X 900.
Is there a good option in the 50~100 euro's price range? Or should I invest more of my money?

Sorry, the last time I was out of the USA, there were no such things as Euros. About how much in USD?

hehe

"1 Euro = 1.3579 U.S. dollars"

so around 70 ~ 135 dollars.

I've been a fan of the series, not got the game yet. (Been busy busy busy!)
Pretty sure the game will run on my laptop, but it be nice for those with the expertise will let me know in advance, how well.

I have the, HP Pavilion dv6-6104ea

Basic Stats;

AMD Quad-Core A6-3410MX (1.6Ghz - 2.3Ghz)
8GB Ram DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6545G2 Dual GPU Graphics ( AMD Radeon 6490M and 6520G )

I'm hoping for Medium, Higher will be awesome. I've not seen many AMD Llano builds in this thread if at all, so I couldn't get a good estimate.

The video chip is indeed poor. Low settings is about all you can expect from that.

Yeah, that's about the answer I was expecting. Do you think I'd ever be able to get it running at a decent framerate though? I'm just afraid of it running like Oblivion did on my crappy old PC, with 5-minute load times and a framerate taking field trips into the single digits even on low settings.

Just one quick question. Is this card (nVIDIA GeForce GTX560 1GB GDDR5 - VGA, DVI & HDMI) the same as the number 22. "GeForce GTX 560 1GB" on this topic's list? And if that is so, I should be able to play on Ultra?

According to that, the AMD Radeon HD 5670 is still the best value in the price range.

I can't imagine getting better than Medium with that one.

Hi

I'm 3 months off an upgrade. My current spec is

Q6600 at stock
2GB RAM
4850 512MB

I played Fallout 3 and Fallout NV at what I considered to be acceptable quality.

Worth getting the game now or waiting until after Christmas?

Ooops just noticed this sticky.

Current specs:

AMD 5600+ dual core.
4GB DDR3 RAM
Vista 64 Bit
8600GTS 256
500W PCU

I want to upgrade to be able to run Skyrim on High or Ultra High. Anyone advise a currently working and error free combo for power and card? I dont want to buy both then find I have a card that everyone else is dumping because its not compatible or buggy.

An upgrade would be a good idea, but your CPU is not the fastest these days. Going to hold back a lot of modern cards. Can look into getting the Radeon 5770 or 6770 at best. Won't need a PSU upgrade for those cards really presuming the 500W unit you have is a good brand and model.

Same card and yes...Ultra.

pertaining to playing skyrim, does an i7 or i5 make a difference?(or in general is the i7 much better than the i5?)

For this game...no noticeable difference. Core i7 have extra threads that the game will never use. A Core i5 is more than enough....4 cores, 4 threads and the game is mostly using just half of even that. In general, the i7 can better if you do lots of video editing/encoding/rendering or heavy Folding.

I'm getting random freezes every few seconds/minutes, mostly while out in the game world. I run the game in 1920x1080, but lowered all of the settings in the launcher from High or Ultra to Medium or Low. Still freezes every now and then, but runs smooth otherwise.

Should I expect that from this machine and lower the resolution (which I'd rather not do) or you think something else is the issue?

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.00 GhZ
3 gB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670
(And about 500 gigabytes free)

New game with bugs for sure. Could be the game. I'd expect about medium-high with that card.

Whichever the case may be, you're somewhere between low to medium-low

I'd say it's worth it. Card good for medium-high levels at least.
