Update 1.6

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:31 am

I have yet to try the new update, as I am away from home. I hear there are several problems, inducing crashes, save corruptions, and just bugs in general. Is this true? Is it safe to download?

hmmm... some people have experienced corrupt save files, and other serious things, but you would have to get it sooner or later.

There is a lot of crashes. Bit it fixes the enemy respawns which is a huge bug.

Now Bethesda needs to fix plant respawns.

Nothing serious, or often, but :
Half of Whiterun missing once, returned on entering/exiting a building
Teleporting horses
One total crash on using a carriage
These in a short time on a fairly new character

First time I'm glad PS3 was left out.

The only thing I've discovered is the absolute joy of fighting on horseback. Bug-wise? Nope, nothing.

Thanks for the feedback. How about the mounted combat? Good, could be better, or bad?

I have plants that do not respawn at all in certain areas. Then I have plants that take 14 days to grow back and others that take 30 plus days to grow back. I have some plants that have not grown in an area I have not been to. Then if I pick plants in a city, and then go into a house I own or the castle without picking anything since I came back to the city I harvested once already and come out and sometimes some plants in the city will be gone other tines all of the plants will be gone.

There is something wrong with the plqnt respawn timer, since they have fixed the enemy respawn timer I would now like to see the plants get their timer fixed.

Once you have the timing, mounted combat is fine, love charging down bandits with a horse and a scimitar. I can't use the archery myself, can't hit a thing while moving, but I that's perhaps just me, I only play rpg/arpgs, so no good at shooters or 'twitch' gaming

There really is no issue with the combat, it would be great if your into fast moving and attacking. I do not like the third person archery on the back of the horse, the thing I don't like about the mounted combat is its forced third person view there is no first, I think first person would help out the archery a lot.

To be fair this seems better than 1.5, which left me with big chunks missing from the water (there's a huge square hole in Lake Ilinalta), and left some friendly npcs always blocking, never attacking.
The important thing for xbox with these patches is clean up, though. Without fixing ash piles and nirnroot glow stacking, even if you had no other problems, you would get file bloat problems eventually. My opinion, serious problems seem to be uncommon, and a roll of the dice, so I would say full patching is worth the risk to get the clean up fixes.

It has definitely fixed the Nirnroot glow stacking but 1.4 never properly fixed the ash piles, they are still an issue for 1.6. I say get the patch for the Nirnroot fix and the enemy respawn fix alone, the game is terrible without respawns.

Now the plant respawns need to be fixed as well.

Forgive me for being naive but what is the issue with stacking? I never noticed it.

Also it fixes a bug where fallen enemies weapons hover in mid air...I think.

My main (450 hour) character had a version of Skyrim that looked radioactive. If you didn't pick a nirnroot the first time you entered it's cell, every time you returned the original glow would be there, and a new level of glow, in expanding spheres, would be added, even after you subsequently picked it. http://media.photobucket.com/image/nirnroot%20glow%20stacking/MarkQuinn2k9/Skyrim_Nirnroot_Glow.jpg.

The picture above in the link has come to be called nuclear nirnroots, not so lovingly I might add.

I haven't tried the mounted combat but realistically you would still stop ur horse to attack very few times would you swing ur sword while charging. infact only time u charge +fight is keeping your weapon drawn at head level. but thats me just saying lol.

I just started playing i did notice a big texture boost and shadows on character appear more clearer.

only issues i had are lag spikes, and lighting keeps sparking at times. like the zone would be void of shadow for 2.3 seconds

ya kinda funny that glitched happen since that plan was also in oblivion and u think they knew out it worked h well human errors happen in coding hence the gltiches.

did they fix the catapultuing horses yet? one reason i stoped playing skyrim for a bit was due to the glitch where if u fast traven while on horse and got off.. ur horse would fly in a random direction and die.... said character killed every horse including shadowmere via glitch ><

It probably happened because the nirnroots are coded differently to other ingredients. A salmon or butterfly is effectively a moving plant, the game sees nirnroots as a different entity altogether, probably to facilitate the addition of the glow and audio scripts.
