un used items?

I hope fission batteries are used for some kind of half-assed junk energy weapon.

He meant that only people with 7+ INT should post, 7+ means 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 and so on.
I actually only have about 4 in intelligence so I broke this threads rules. :ninja:

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!why are you arguing about "who's gonna sue who and wether or not they can"? its downright stupid, were supposed to be arguing about the random crap you fid out there in the wasteland! not valve sueing bathesda or obsidian because a frying pan is a weapon in fnv!

The frying pans in Fallout 3 are weak steel or aluminum ones. Weapons-grade cookware is made from cast iron, which has considerably more weight and durability than steel cookware. It's also still the superior choice for most actual cooking needs IRL.

I actually love that they filled the world with items that were useless.... It makes it more fun in the beginning of the game figuring out what you actually need or can actually trade for money.
Of course once you build things like the rock-it-launcher then none of the items are actually useless.. everything just becomes ammo. I horded teddy bears for use as ammo.. I just thought it was great that I could kill things with a teddy bear.

Two things: More useless items is always good. For a game that doesn't depend on simplicity, variety is essential. Also, Valve would never, ever, ever, sue over a bonesaw and frying pan. They are definitely not stuck up idiots, contrary to what some Steam haters might actually believe.

Off topic: Ssaying Valve could sue Beth for using Saw and Pan as weapons (Which btw I think lfd2 came out after Fo3) is like saying if I make a game where I use guns as weapons, then I can be sued by whoever made the first game with guns as weapons...

But lets get back on topic of what we will miss instead of sueing debate before a mod decides to lock this. :P

Hahaha, I have great memories of that.
Before I started, I read this review (I think it was IGN) where the reviewers got a go at the beginning of the game, and they were all "you never know what you'll need in the wasteland" and were picking up pencils and tin cans and stuff.
So, on my first playthrough, I was picking up all this worthless stuff and was getting frustrated with how encumbered I was getting. I was even feeling a bit guilty when I dropped my pencils in order to create more space. I seemed to think everything had a purpose in the post-apocalyptic earth. This was even weirder since I'm like the Oblivion guru, understanding that there is a bunch of obselete stuff in Bethesda games.
It took me about another 3 hours to realise the stuff had no purpose. Damn you, IGN.

The new crafting abilities will probably use some of the 'junk'... whatever new weapon schematics there are will surely use some of them, also...

Its intended to just be background fluff, useless things in some ways add to the belief that you are in the world. Not everybody is McGuyver or part of the A-Team so when you see things you can't find a use for just realise the game would be less without them even though they are useless.

Technically though....most of the stuff could be loaded into that air cannon and fired at people, so really even as uselss as it seemed, it was ammo. :flamed:

My Suggestions:
-Use them as cooking utensils (frying pan, etc)
-Use them as house decoration
-(My way of life in Fallout 3) Sell the high valued stuff and abandon the low valued stuff
-I dunno,ammunition maybe?
-Other things possible

You can still sell them or use them as decorations at least. Although the cooking supplies might be used in cooking now.

This reminds me of that movie Legion where the guy with one arm throws a cast iron skillet into a demon grandma's face....good times

Back on topic: I think improvised weapons would be amazingly cool for bar fights, like you can beat some to death with a teddy bear.

I just liked collecting the useless crap, especially if it's rare. "OMG I finds woodchipper hehe :shifty: *hoard*". "WTF tin cans? *leave*"

Wish the whetstone could have been useful :sadvaultboy:

Oh the hypocrisy, OP. I recommend looking up the Dunning Kruger effect.

I always wished hammers you found could be used as a melee weapon, or as a tool that factored into repair perhaps. Junk items can be justified, but they are a bit of a waste. Sure, they can be sold, but that makes them undesirable when it comes to looting, so were left there just to look pretty or immersive, thus warranting no reason for them being picked up, or even being interactable objects at all, like desk lamps and radios were. Plus if every item had a use then my unsatiable nack of hoarding all loot I find will be justified. :tops:

These.

I doubt it, they're worth too many bottlecaps. But you never know, and they can also reduce their worthiness I suppose.

Just because its worth too many caps does not mean it can't be burned. to tell you the truth i didn't know why it was so useful in the first place...then i had to go to the bathroom....and i knew....to quote Beavis "TP for my Bunghole!"

When i found the woodchipper, i wanted to put a raiders hand into it...

you should not be able to beat someone to death with a teddy bear, maybe shove it down his throat...

Have you ever dropped a teddy bear in F3...they sound like their filled with bricks. All though jamming a stuffed toy down a Raiders throat does sound spectacular...

well, i just dont see Teddy Bears in Fallout being Filled with Bricks, maybe Psycho(oh what a cameo...) but not bricks, thats just Havok physics working its weird glitchy magic.

and if we are able to use cigarrettes...http://media.photobucket.com/image/tf2%20spy%20gentlemen/TheUnwind/2009%20-%20May/gentlemen.png

If memory serves correctly, Teddy Bears at one point were stuffed with the likes of sawdust which can add quite a mass to something, which will give it a reasonable heft for hitting things with.

True, but I wouldn't be using them if they were worth a fair amount and didn't weigh a thing.

aha...i dont, maybe the stuffing inside gets heavier from radiation, i dont know!

y'know, that may just be something, the stuffing inside these bears could asborb Raidiation, its absurd...just like Fallout! we must be able to throw teddies inside irradiated areas to get rid of Radiation!
