Uh-oh vampire complaints

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:20 pm

The editor from gamespot who is reviewing skyrim, Kevin VanOrd, has tweeted his frustrations about being a vampire. I have shared this in other topics but thought I'd make a separate thread for discussion.

Kevin's twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/fiddlecub

At least we have 3 days to cure porphyric hemophilia before being stuck as a vampire(can use a cure disease potion).

2 questions though:
1. Is this guy even a good reviewer?
2. What are your thoughts?

Something to consider as well:
No, it's not. He's just mad because he didn't want to become a vampire but became one because of his own negligence. He's complaining about being blood-starved and apparently doesn't even realize that he has to go drink blood. He had three days to cure it, and is complaining because he failed to do so, and then demands that a neat little quest be presented to you on how to cure it. You shouldn't be able to cure vamparism easily after it takes effect. It's an ancient curse. The quest lines to cure vamparism are usually long and convoluted because you're doing something that few have ever accomplished.

Being a Vampire was bad in Oblivion. It doesn't surprise me in the least that it's bad in Skyrim. Besides...we have Werewolves.

Is he actually specifying what's so bad about vampirism? I clicked your link but I didn't see any details.

No. He's not specifying (though, it probably has to do that it's simply copy/pasted from Oblivion). It seems he's simply frustrated he can't find a cure for Vampirism.

The link is working, yes?

But yeah he is just saying how it's not fun and you are forced to play by a set of rules and there is no obvious cure once you become one. Hence becoming normal may be extremely annoying and tedious as it was in oblivion.

Always wondered why being a vampire doesn't have big (í'm talking HUGE) benefits for the major drawbacks it has.

I will be carrying many cure disease potions then.

Also I'm hoping being a werewolf makes it so you CANT be a vampire. I'll just become a werewolf early... and not worry bout vamps.

He doesn't need to go in specifics... The fact that he wants to cure vampirism after just becoming one, is bad news.

I would assume so along with abunch of other annoying things.

He does!! Huge whiner. I wonder what he was like when he played dark souls.. Lol.

he didn't know you could just cure disease before fully becoming a vampire. Sounds like an elder scrolls noob. I'm sure the game told him a hundred times CURE YOUR DISEASE OR YOU'LL BECOME A VAMPIRE. I don't feel sorry for him, he was probably all excited and was all like YEAH [censored] SKYRIM I PLAYED EVERY GAME

From what i've heard about it, i was expecting(and hoping) for many complaints, but it sounds like he's moaning about things that everyone would associate with Vampirism.

How do you know this is what happened though? Maybe he just wanted to be a vampire but being one really svcks.

He said he didn't know to cure it, and then made this tweet mocking Bethesda.

You have three days before you are full fledged vampire. I didn't know, or I would have cured it then, easily.

I always imagine this conversation among devs: "You know what would be fun? This thing everyone hated in our previous games!"

Yeah, I got that part. My problem was that he was being annoying vague about these rules.

Maybe, but if this Vampire system is similar to Oblivion's; then I have to roll my eyes in disgust at this reviewer.

HIV is a blood born disease with some pretty big drawbacks... I can't find a single benefit for it ;p - who says diseases have to be a double edged sword... instead of a single backward facing blade ;p

NV was a poor game compared to FO3... if it had a more interesting environment and wasnt full of bugs then sure it would have been great since it def had a better story and alot more content. in other words quality > quantity.
