Canon is always fuzzy. The events of the game all happened, but who did them is left for the player to decide.

There will have been a Dovahkiin, who slew Alduin
There will have been an event involving the Eye of Magnus at the College
There will have been a rising of the Thieves' Guild and all the heists pulled will be canon
The Dark Brotherhood will have assassinated everyone they do, but also there will be reports their base was destroyed, leading some to conclude that another branch pulled off those murders
(some of) The companions will have cured their Lycanthropy, the Silver Hand will be dead.
No one will remember who won the Civil War, but in the end it won't have mattered for x reason.

Lord Harkon's plan was stopped. Some say the Dawnguard did it, others that the vampires themselves did it.

It doesn't matter if the dragonborn did these things, someone will have, you can decide for yourself.

Alrigh. Stil my opinion probably not the best since I prefer Xbox over pc and have only one char on it who does everything. Killing,[censored],looting,hero stuff,saving maidens,killing random strangers and so on.

Think of it like this, your character choose to become a VL to get closer to the new threat that has risen and plans on destroying the volihkir from the inside and then cure himself of the disease. But after having done so realizes this new power might help in their quest against alduin. He never has to drink blood if you don't want them to. A vamp can live without. And even if killing dawnguard makes you feel evil or whatever then think about how the dawnguards intentions aren't truly good.

Even Argnier leaves things uncertain of what you will become. For good, evil, or for no impact at all.

Personally, despite it leaving something a scourge to contend with, being a Vampire Lord makes me feel closer to my Dragon Kin at least in appearance.

My character just wanted to see how hard it was to kill Alduin.

Or he can be a boss and kill em all as a dawnguard and a werewolf. I like that better.

The whole game depends on how you RP it, anything can make sense as long as it makes sense to you and your world of Skyrim.

Good Dovakiin / Bad Dovakiin I don't mind it's up to how we all want our characters to be, I just find it a little crazy that these vamp's have been around a long time and know alot about Skryim and don't keep abriast of current affairs about Dovakinn and Alduin???

I don't know if others got any comments from the vampires but for me not one!! Just one comment somewhere from them would have been good - the dumb [censor] town guards seem to know more.

And a little off track lets not forget it was really Alduin who saved you from getting your head cut off in the first place.
