Depends. Alduin was going to end Mundus. A Vampire takeover just means that the Vamps are in control.

Simple case of "I can't drink blood and rule Tamriel if this giant black dragon destroys it!"

Depends on your motives for saving the world. Maybe you just didn't want a stupid dragon to eat everything, difficult to dominate a world that's been gobbled.

Also, you might not choose to be Dovahkiin, never do the MQ and RP that you're just a normal person (until you become a VL).

No stupider than a vampire lord anything else. Which is to say, still pretty stupid.

Personally I used it as a part of my main's story arc. From growing wanderlust through the Bard's College to gaining influence through the Companions and falling to the darker nature of his Dovah soul and lust for power with the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild culminating in his utter fall to Darkness as a Vampire Lord.

His search for more power and knowledge leads him to the College of Winterhold where he ironically eventually finds peace and goes on to cure himself and many months later is drawn into the Civil War and the Alduin crisis in an attempt to bring peace to the land and pay for his past.

So what if he saved the world? He can be who the hell he wants to be. He is a hero to vampires if he killed Harkon.

I wouldn't say bitter. Just, incredulous.

I fail to see how you can be "incredulous" about Dawnguard...from a simple definition standpoint it doesn't make much sense...

My character is pretty evil, she only stopped Alduin (on one save) to preserve her own existence and wasn't too thrilled about it.
Tis a role playing game, not everybody's character is the stereotypical hero, I could think of a dozen reasons why a vampire would stop the end of the world.

If you mean as far as a "canon" dovakiin goes, then yes. I'd say it doesn't match up well.

To be incredulous is to have trouble believing something.
I still find it hard to believe that of all the many things the dlc could've focused on, they chose the one they did, & then strove to make it as uninspired as possible.
Hence, my incredulity.

Ah, I apologize. English is not my first language and as such I was a tad confused seeing as how I understood incredulous to mean skeptical or unwilling to accept something as true. By the definition of the word I felt it strange to be used for something that does exist and is therefore practically impossible to be "refused to be true" as the existence of the DLC removes all doubt of "what is".

For me, from a grammatical standpoint there is a huge difference between having difficulty believing and an absolute refusal of belief.

No trouble, I understand completely. I'm sorry if I came off as rude, if so it was unintended. But, I can be a bit of an ass.
And to be clear, there are a lot of things that I do like about Dawnguard. But, they've been overshadowed by a few things I really hate.
Almost all of which are integral parts of the main plot, or the vampire lord itself.

Not at all, I did not feel you were being rude. But then again it is very difficult to offend me heh.

I do understand your points though. There are 1-2 "features" in Dawnduard that truly drive me up the wall and if I had not found the temporary solutions I am currently using there is a good chance DG would not even currently still be installed until those issues were fixed. Overall I love the DLC but I can definately see where those who don't are coming from.

Yeah but the canon character from elder scrolls games do every faction as the canon Hero of Kvatch was the listener of the dark brotherhood and I guess that will be the same with the Dovahkihn

I wish you weren't put into the roll of dovakiin in skyrim anyways. Should of just had the option to help the rising dragon born complete his/her mission to save the world.

Oh yes. Lets forget that he is also a leader of the dark brotherhood, thief guild, champion of every single daedra lord, plaything of Nocturnal, a werewolf and sacrifices virgins to demons. He definetly can't join Horkans vampire troope.

I dont think that applies here, but everyone has their own opinion on what the "canon" dovakiin is. To me, Its a nord warrior, harbinger, stormcloak, wipes out dark brotherhood, ignores theives guild and mages except to get the elder scroll. So to this character that I personally see as "canon", it wouldnt make sense to become a vampire.

Thats what YOU did. My main character doesnt do the theives guild and Dark Brotherhood. Honorable warrior over here. It depends on what you believe is canon, since there isn't really a canon dovahkiin. Sarcasm not necessary.
